That was a terrible 2nd half. With a team made up of our reserves and lads it is not totally surprising but I did expect better. None of those young lads have given Slot any reason to notice them. It's actually concerning when you see the lack in development. They showed promise last season.

We played Southampton away mate, not Norwich, Soton or Leicester at home when they were in the championship.

It's not concerning at all because none of them feature for us in the league or CL. Almost as if Slot treated it like a cup game. A 17 year old made his full debut and being asked to fill in on either wing, Danns and Mcconnell are just back from being out since July. Morton and Quansah's 2nd/3rd start of the season. Harvey and Kostas both getting their first game time after coming back from injury.

      and so? Seriously..

Should we praise a poor performance because of age?

Yes you should credit the team for getting us into the semi final.

A team which didn't feature Ali, Robbo, Ibou, Virg, Grav, Jones, Szobo, Diaz or Salah.

      And Phewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

We sure don't ever do it easy, do we?

Of course we would have to face those sort of conditions.

Game changed totally on it's head for me when Gomez went off. we looked calm and composed and then Tsimi came on, gave a simple pass away and it just let them and the crowd, grow into the match.

Having said that, we could have been 5 up by that time if Darwin had a clue about what he was supposed to be doing out there! He drives me fkn bonkers!!

Wheres the MotM poll? Haven't got a F***ing clue who I would choose but when I'm pissed I like guessing and seeing how many votes my guess has got.

The more I watch that Quansah tackle at the end the more blatant it looks!

With VAR he is walking there.

Out the box though so hopefully we'd have survived the free kick and seen out the last few minutes regardless.

Again I repeat he messed up the flight of the ball but it was 100% the right call to put the arm across and bring him down at that late stage of the game. The fact the ref played on made it even better for us.

Do you think we should go full strength in this now?

Would you be willing to risk injury to star players to win this again?

I've already made the point that it was basically our youth team. But this is a poor Southampton, bottom of the table, playing with a mixed team, in a new system, and without a manager.

The fact is most of our lads did not play well.

Maybe you can’t understand that it’s not easy for players to gel quickly

We dominated the game , they had a 10/15 min spell

That was most of Southamptons main team last night

Apologies for the delay in the MOTM poll.

I didn't see the game but glad to see Tsimikas is back.  Looked a bit of a mixed up mashed up team but in a cup competition it's all about the result.

Looks like quite a lot of first teamers actually got a proper rest i.e. not even travelling to Southampton so that's got to be a good thing too.

Exactly, 2 good goals from open play and the goal we conceded literally smashed off Endo’s face.

A poor, bottom of the table Southampton our first team needed a late pen to scrape a win just a few weeks ago?

This game was a free hit for both teams and was played as such, them sacking Martin prior and playing whatever style they were playing has no relevance - didn't make it easier or harder for us as we couldn't prepare for the unknown, on the night we figured it out, did our job and beat the side that was put out in front of us.

If that was a prem game I'd be worries, but fact is Arne prioritized the league and sent a young squad out there. He even left the big boys at home.to rest for Sunday. And we played in a monsoon. To win with all things considered is excellent. I dunno what some of you want 😆

On to Tottenham and the semis

Made a total racket in the prediction league last night. Before the game changed my prediction to 2-1 to the redmen. At least I thought I did but because we were away gave the ankle tappers a 2-1 win.  :lmao: :lmao: What an idiot. I need to look more closely when I'm doing these things.  :lmao:

Was on nights last night so no idea on how it unfolded.

But with players like elliott returning, young players picking up experience, half an hour for Jota, no injuries, alot of players rested and the main objective of qualification for the semi final achieved I dont think theres anything to be negative about.

Is the semi draw tonight? Hopefully an Anfield 2nd leg against spursy united saudi or arsenal.

Usually when city get to this stage there is coventry leicester and some other lesser light in it.

Shout out for Endo. 100% professional performance.Under employed by Slot this season but Slot knows Endo is reliable. Graver has done so well and that's mostly keeping Endo out, but top pro for sure.
