      Muntari (Portsmouth)

Liverpool are reported to be weighing up a move for Portsmouth's Sulley Muntari.

Muntari has impressed at Fratton Park since his summer arrival from Udinese and his performances are thought to have alerted Reds boss Rafa Benitez.

Benitez is drawing up his list of targets in the January transfer window and could make a move for Muntari if he is priced out of a deal for Javier Mascherano.

The Ghana international has quickly adapted to life in England and he is a big fans' favourite at Pompey.

The 23-year-old has admitted he would be interested in a move to a bigger club if the chance became available.

What do you think. I don't think that he's currently up to our standard but he could probably get to it if he's only 23.

Well for starters, he will always be in the Ghanian line up! so come january - February of every year, he will be absent form the liverpool line up. That is the snag with the top African players playing in the Premiership, they're bound to be absent from the club, come january. Clubs like Portsmouth, Everton, Chelsea and Arsenal will lose a lot of their starting 11. We are bound to lose Sissoko (happy to miss him?), but Muntari for Mascherano is gonna suck. Muntari in the LFC squad is not a bad idea if we're selling Sissoko for him, but as an alternative to Mscherano? That is a No! No!  :f_doh:

Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp has dismissed reports linking midfielder Sulley Muntari with a shock move to Liverpool.

Reports in the national press suggested that the Ghana midfielder, signed for £7million from Udinese this summer, was being monitored by Reds boss Rafa Benitez.

But Redknapp insists the speculation is completely without foundation and has slammed the articles as "absolute rubbish", according to the Portsmouth News.

Benitez was believed to be considering a move for Muntari if he was unable to strike a long-term deal for Argentina international Javier Mascherano.

Fratton Park boss Redknapp already believes his squad will be down to the bare bones during January, but does not expect to be spending big in the transfer market.

I agree with solodee regarding clubs with African Nations players, they will be hard hit in January/February.It is imperitive that RAFA ties up the Mascherano deal as quickly as possible. If we are going to bring players in, in January please make it a winger.
