Liverpool under 21s lost 3-2 to Accrington Stanley in the papa John's trophy. Calvin Ramsey came on for the last half hour or so and scored a left footed shot after a good run by Ben doak, doak who was also a sub scored in injury time

Random non-LFC story: My first trip to UK in late 90s, the night before flying home from Heathrow I stayed in Wycombe and watched then League One Wycombe play Brentford in this competition on a Tuesday night. The sponsor then I believe was something called Auto Windscreens. Wycombe took a heavy loss and as the match was winding down, a supporter was walking out but stopped just behind the Wycombe bench and let the manager have it.. He turned around and gave it straight back to the punter and other fans jeered. after I got home I read that manager got sacked.

He certainly was, his 4th goal in the competition, along with Trent Kone-Doherty who scored twice, Lewis Koumas and Luke Chambers got the others.

The young gungs are looking good, give them time and we have some Gem's for the future.

Doak got rave reviews for his cameo appearance.. other Academy types played their part, but he stands out. We should see him again in the next round vs. City .

Billy scored twice, including one from his own half - goal of the season according to the U21 manager.

Hopefully this performance helps revive his career because after a promising beginning, Billy has been off track for more than two years.
