Big arsed soft peno, wolves the better side after that, but good to get the last minute winner.I ended up watching the Wolves tv stream and the best they could come up with was ya gobs***e won the pen, meaning he took a F***ing dive.I wasn't hugely impressed by Jones today, kinda looked disinterested to me.

U23s on at 6:55 p.m. GMT tonight, LFC TV.
Probably not the players we know best, who played Monday. That probably means the U18 team Saturday will be more like U16 players.

A little of both it turns out. Starters include Kijana Hoever at right back, Sepp Van Den berg at center back and Tony Gallacher at left. Dixon-Bonner, Clarkson and Cain in midfield, with Liam Millar, Jack Bearne and Luis Longstaff (I'm missing a defender and a goalkeeper).

Liam Millar scored the opener thanks to a dreadful backpass from Huddersfield, so up 1-0 early.

Reds win 3-0 with goals from Millar, Sepp Van den Berg and Joe Hardy. I guess that's us into the knockout rounds then.

Up 2-0 in 2nd half with goals from Liam Millar and Joe Hardy.

Hardy doesn't look that impressive as an athlete, but if it's goals you like....

Neco Williams has been running riot down the right today and he's just been kicked out of the game by Sunderland. He would be a lock to start vs. Chelsea in the FA Cup so hopefully it's not too serious.

      Our lineup btw was:

Jaros, Williams, Hoever, Boyes, Gallacher, Chirivella, Lewis, Jones, Elliott, Millar, Hardy

Van den Berg came on for Williams at about 75 minutes and Hoever moved to right back. Now Leighton Clarkson has come on for Gallacher and Lewis has switched from midfield to left back. Lewis has played well today also.

Curtis Jones makes it 4-0 with a very nice goal. He is walking around like an old man after taking a kick earlier, but good finish. One worth waiting for the highlights to be posted later on.

Work pulled me away for the last few minutes of the match and apparently I missed Curtis Jones scoring two more (maybe one was earlier and I missed it). Anyway, he got a hat trick with the final three goals for the U23s in a 6-0 rout.

I remember an article during preseason about how the younger players were being put through the same fitness regimen as the first team (which apparently is not how it has always been done). Some of these games I've seen with the U23 team they are just dominating at the end of the match (see this often with the first team to be fair). Maybe some of the opponents have just quit, but it seems to pay off for the group.

A week and a day from now some of these players should be with the first team at Chelsea in the FA Cup. Some of the others will play in a U19 UEFA Youth League game against Benfica (some of the group from tonight are too old for that one). Others will play vs. Blackburn this Friday in the U23 league.

Missed it all after a pointless trip to the pharmacy and doctor followed by getting on a bus which I thought was following a diversion past my house but didn't so had to go all around the houses back again. Oh well, hope the first team will put on a show tonight.

As you know by now, game was called off for a waterlogged pitch.

We should see Williams, Elliott and Jones in the starting XI vs. Chelsea. Maybe Adam Lewis as well depending on whether Milner is risked from the start.

I would think a few others will be on the bench (Kelleher, Hoever, Van den Berg, Lewis if he's not starting, Chirivella, Cain, Clarkson, Millar and Hardy are all candidates).

Critch had been appointed as the new Blackpool manager.

      Best of luck to him!

just saw this and wondered if this was a good move for him or not.... Blackpool has many problems with its ownership however I am sure as you have mentioned we all wish him the best of luck

I thought Blackpool had sorted their ownership issue out?

Anyway, good luck to the fella.  It's definitely a step up in terms of the competitiveness of the football.
