Surprised to see Billy with the U18s today. Just back fit. He could go from this to the first team on Thursday

Is this Steve McMahon on the comms with Steven Hunter? Whoever it is is doing my head in. Old Boys Club in action.

EDIT: Sorry, it was Roy Evans. Better player than commentator, let's say.

I appreciate Steve Hunter's enthusiasm for our team and players, but he has the most annoying habit of making everything a question.

"He hit that shot well, didn't he?

That goalkeeper is a tall boy, isn't he?

The grass is green, isn't it?

The players are all wearing underpants, aren't they?

Dwelt on the ball and miscontrolled it and the city player slid in and scored. Played an hour in total

Saw the highlights there. I guess they are calling it an old as the City boy tackled it against him. Apparently 60 minutes was the plan all along since he's been injured.

I know the first team players and Jürgen have been saying good things about him, which is great, but not sure the 30 minutes or so that I saw make me think a runout vs. Arsenal in the League Cup is the best idea just now. But we'll see what Jürgen and co. decide. He's definitely a very bright prospect.

I didn't see this online anywhere. Sounds like a close one.

I notice Van Den Berg played 90 minugtes with this team, so I guess he is not in contention for Thursday.

U23s lose 1-0 to Brighton, with Rhys Williams and Sepp Van den Berg playing center back.

U18s beat Sunderland 3-2 behind 2 goals from Layton Stewart and one from a schoolboy named Ethan Ennis.

Rhys Williams played 60 minutes for the 23s. I suspect he will be on the bench Tuesday as Phillips is not registered for the Champions League.

Watching the U23s vs. Southampton at Kirkby. Scoreless after 30 minutes but we've gone close twice, Glatzel shot saved and Liam Miller hitting the post. Luis Longstaff the other member of the front three today. Jake Cain and Leighton Clarkson are with the first team training today.

Our midfielders are Matteo Ritaccio (USA!), Tyler Morton and Tom Clayton. Back four Conor Bradley, Sepp Van Den Berg, Remi Savage and Owen Beck, with Caiomin Kelleher in goal.

And the weather looks....particularly crummy on Merseyside today, yeah?

U23s playing Man United just now, at Kirkby.

Pitaluga the Brazilian teenager in goal.

Savage, Van Den Bergh, Koumetio, Clayton, Clarkson, Cain, Ben Woodburn, Morton and O'Rourke among the starters for us. Blowing a gale at the ground.

Billy Koumetio fails to trap a simple pass and United score the opener after the young Liverpool team had been all over the United goal for the first 10 minutes.

      0-1.

Player who scored, Diallo, was just signed for 41 million from Atalanta. Brandon Williams, a first team player, is at right back for them.

Lost 6-3. Didn't see anyone threatening for a first team place, although Leighton Clarkson and Jake Cain show some promise. The centre backs were Billy Koumetio and Sepp Van Den Berg and let's just say Jürgen isn't missing an obvious choice to fill in during our first team injury problems in the back line.

I notice we've been brining in a lot of 16 and 17 year olds over the past 6 months. We'll see if any of them emerge in the coming years as first team candidates. Maybe the U18s are more the team to watch for the rest of this season.

Yep saw bits and bats of it never really seen much in Van den Berg to be honest and Koumetio clearly needs to develop more

As usual with u23s results are patchy, team gets changed so much with first team borrowing lads all the time. but thats the point eh.
