The teenage goalie from Celtic was signed, but I can't find anything on Kaide Gordon.

Thought we signed him and one more, Bajcetic from Celta Vigo.

      https://www.fourfourtwo.com/us/news/liverpool-transfer-news-reds-set-to-sign-teenage-starlet-from-derby-county

Saw Rooney on Sky talking about this second one. Nothing on official site about either.

      From talkaloadofbull.com:
Asked if Gordon was on his way out of Derby, Rooney told reporters: “It looks that way. Kaide is a fantastic player. I brought him into the squad because he was showing the qualities I want.

“We offered him a deal which he didn’t take. As always when a player doesn’t sign up, if any of the big clubs in the Premier League come in, it is very difficult to deny the player that opportunity.

“There has been an offer for Kaide [from Derby] since before I have been in this role. He hasn’t signed it for whatever reason. Liverpool have become aware of that and stepped in.

“Once a team like Liverpool come in for one of your players it is hard to turn that down.

“For his development, of course I would have liked him to stay at the club, but I understand once the champions of England come in and want to sign you, it is difficult to turn it down.”

Rooney is better placed than most to advise Gordon on the challenge of joining a top club at such a young age, having made his Everton debut at 16 and joined Manchester United at 18.

The England legend spoke highly of Gordon’s work-rate in training after handing him his Derby debut aged 16 years, two months and 24 days.

“I brought Kaide up with the first team initially to train with us for a week to see how he reacted to it, and he was one of the best trainers,” Rooney told RamsTV.

“I kept him with us for a couple of weeks and he’s been training at the same level - if not to a better level to a lot of the other [first-team] players. As I said to the players, if you train hard and train well, I will you give your chance. He deserves it.”

I see the U23 game scheduled for tomorrow at Kirkby has been postponed due to a frozen pitch.

So, no undersoil heating  at the new facility, or do the U23  matches take place at the old area of the facility?

I am not sure if they have undersoil heating on the pitches there

U23s beat Salford 3-1 in a friendly. Paul Glatzel plays for the first time since reinjuring himself in November. Goals from Layton Stewart, Billy Koumetio and Joe Hardy. New signing Liam Hughes plays in goal.

Who is stepping out of this group in the next year or 2 to follow Trent and Curtis and impact the 1st team?

U23s leading Arsenal 3-0 in the 2nd half (live on LFC TV). Jake Cain has scored twice, once on a good individual effort and just now on a total clanger by the Arsenal goalkeeper ("clanger" by any objective standard). Layton Stewart scored the opener with a nice finish after good pressing by Ben Woodburn.

Brian - to answer your question, there may be more promise among the U18 group to be honest, but Stewart on the U23s is a natural goalscorer. He's not up to Premier League standards athletically yet, but he is one to watch.

You already know about Leighton Clarkson but he is not playing today. Not sure if he is injured or maybe in the squad for tomorrow.

Final 4-0 with Ben Woodburn scoring the final goal on an assist from Cain after good pressing by Elijah Dixon-Bonner.

Paul Glatzel played the final 15 minutes or so, not sure but that may be the first time he's been back in an official match since he was injured sometime before Christmas.

EDIT: From Official Site: Liverpool U23s: Hughes, Bradley, Beck, Boyes, Koumetio, Clayton, Dixon-Bonner (Sharif, 88), Morton, Stewart (Glatzel, 78), Cain (Hardy, 88), Woodburn.

      Unused substitutes: Savage, Davies.

I'm hearing some amazing things about our youth team players.

Looks like we will have lots of talent coming through. Our investment in a sustainable youth player development strategy will pay dividend over the next few seasons.

Something to be positive about at least.

After that any of these that are regular 1st teamers is a bonus

After some initial acclaim during preseason, I think Billy has come down to earth and then some. The U18s maybe more promising.

U23 team brightest prospect Layton Stewart just suffered what looks like a horrible injury in a match vs. West Ham. Writhing in agony on the pitch, maybe an ankle or knee injury. Being given oxygen, carted off.
