La Whey are proven top brand for muscle building and achiving the goal though.
Also Maximuscle is a top brand too.

      These two I'd recomend.

Just like to say, do you guys who do weights get muscle soreness? I use to get a lot of muscle soreness but now I'm lifting a bit more and working a lot harder in the gym and I'm hardly getting any muscle soreness what so ever.

If only I got a new tub of protein powder three weeks ago, I'm sure the results would be even better now!
Muscle building is so easy, it takes its time but its fun to watch your body progress over the time. Better if you have a bit of weight behind yourself, it fuel for the muscle.

Remember that power and strenght are two different things!
If you want power then set the weights to a lighter setting but do more reps until you feel your muscles burning.
If you want strenght then put the weights to a heavy setting and do less reps until your arm can't lift it anymore.

Ok here we go then ;D

      1031 Calories burned
      11.4 Km covered (11'400 meters) & (7.08 miles)
      65 minutes

And just remember I wasn't even pushing it. I was taking it at a steady pace as it's not a race nor a marathon :D

      00 - 10 minutes (10.0KPH)
      10 - 20 minutes (10.5KPH)
      20 - 30 minutes (11.0KPH)
      30 - 40 minutes (11.5KPH)
      40 - 50 minutes (12.0KPH)
      50 - 55 minutes (12.5KPH)
      55 - 60 minutes (11.0KPH)
      5 minute cool down

If your looking to lose weight fast then try this method! :gt-happyup:
Other thing is, I don't really do cardio training.. so I was surprised by how long and far I could run for without feeling tired ::)

Wow thats one big run and a lot of calories burnt. It is a bit harsh so much time spent just to burn off hlaf of your day's calorie intake, well not even half.

Yes I get muscles soreness I think it is natural if you are wight training for mass, as you are pushing your body to the limit the whole time.

Gaining good results quickly comes down to genetics aswell, as weight lifting is depended on the use of fast twitch muscle fibres not all are born with these. Thefore getting results takes longer than for some others.

The aches you get when you first start training are due to a build up of lactic acid in the muscle. Within a few training sessions your muscles get a lot more efficient at clearing the lactic acid & the aching tends to stop. A good cool down session is important to avoid getting a build up of lactic acid.

Yeah I always thought when it comes to running that my body can always handle it a lot easier than others can. However I don't want to do this as a daily weekley routine as I'll ruin my physiche. Look at marathon runners, they have very little muscle due to once you've got no fat, then the muscle will be used as the fuel and your body will start burning off fat & muscle and I don't want that.

Great run Ra Ra, ya seem fairly fast!

I ran 3km in 18 minutes 5 seconds today. I done it HIIT. Switching between a minute on 4kmph and a minute on 14kmph, took it out of me!

I don't know what to be most proud off? Burning over 1000 Calories? Covering 11.4 Kilometers? Or running for 60 minutes? Why not I be proud that I achieved all that!

I'm quite tall, nearly 6'2 and even the gym assistant told me that my body is made for endurance running as I'm quite tall. Some people have that build where they are better for short distances like sprinting but I can sprint also, and fast ;D

If you look at Red he's roughly around the same height as me, but he weights 9KG less than me for goodness sakes! So yeah he covered 7 miles just under the hour mark, I covered 7 miles just over the hour mark but like I said I was taking it at a steady pace.. if I wanted to get 7 miles done in under the hour mark I'm sure I would of done it... again Red was running a marathon which is quite different seeing as its not on even grounds.. there are hills and the surface is not always flat and also the cold air doesn't help... so Red is definitely the more impressive!

I see shorter people who get on the treadmill doing about the same speed I do but looks like their body is working twice as hard as mine. It's all about the limbs you have, some just have those limbs where you make running look easy peasy!

Though I don't know if I want to attempt this again, it's a long old run especially when your running with no ipod or your mate besides you...

I still think outdoor running is a lot harder than running on a treadmill...

      Definetly mate,

The treadmill is a wee bit easier you need to take into account the surface when running outdoors to cover that distcance would have been far more difficult outdoors.

Still though, not bad. Would like to see Court & Red's tredmill results once they decide to do an hour down the gym.

Next time I'll push myself and see what I can really achive :)

Infact I've just realised, if your building up then DON'T do what I just did. It's burns off muscle mass aswell as fat. I won't be attempting this again as I'm sure I've lost some muscle mass over it!

I dont think one such run would have a dramatic effect, but if you did this twice a week on top of weights they would cancel each other out.

Does anybody here superset?? Their exercises ??

I hope it's all in my mind, as now when I look at myself I look smaller. Maybe my mind is playing games with me, I hope one such run wouldn't off effected my muscles that much or even better at all.

Getting fit is a lot easier than building muscle... building muscle takes time and I do not want to lose any muscle mass at all.

Right I went for a run round town last night (about 1.5 miles) and came back all sweaty and oout of breath and like I had pushed myself a little too much, this is probably because I'm really unfit but I will stick to the same route for tomorrow nights run and then on Saturday I think.

Running is the best exercise for you. Get some proper running trainers to cussion yourself when running otherwise in the long term you may regret it. You'll be supprised how much easier running trainers make it for you, and your body is working easier as it doesn't take big impacts to the ground with each stride. Look after your joints!

Got that one covered too, I got some Nike Air max for running and they do make a difference cause you bounce ever so slightly as you jog (or is that just me) this is a big improvement on the shitty ones I had before with very little contact between the road and your feet.

Proper running trainers definitley give you that bounch.. or spring in each stride. Really I need to buy myself a pair of running trainers instead of all this style crap :D

Yeah what is it with that I was in Burton's about 2 years ago and thought it would be "cool" to buy a pair of suede shoes ??? they are slightly worn now but I sometimes wonder why the hell I got them in the first place along with the pre creased jeans and worn t shirts odd eh?

Hi all. I've been a bit busy lately (not running for a change but going to gigs and drinking beer :o) but I have read your posts with interest. Eddie, Ra Ra, AJ and Dadorious keep up the good work guys!  ;)

A few of you are keen on improving your physique which requires motivation and commitment, two key factors in achieving anything in life. Anyone who is dedicated enough can usually reach their personal goals firstly through mental preparation and then the physical application. The rewards of such persistence in the objective you choose are intently satisfying and give the individual improved confidence and a sense of well being.

I have long wanted to be of a different appearance but I don't let that consume me, I am who I am and am also glad for the fact that I am fit enough to do the things I wish to. Long distance running is just something I tried once, a Nocturnal 10K in London in 2003, and from that I entered other races. At first the races were harder than I expected but as time went on and I familiarized with different strategies and ultimately bought a GPS watch and my running improved. As I am not a member of a running club I rely solely on my own motivation and desire to get out there and do it!

I still think outdoor running is a lot harder than running on a treadmill...

      Definitely mate,
The treadmill is a wee bit easier you need to take into account the surface when running outdoors to cover that distance would have been far more difficult outdoors.

Damn right! Every run you do outside is tougher than an air conditioned gym for a whole lot of reasons. There are 2 key elements to consider, the surface / terrain you run on and the ever changing weather! I have run in most conditions from 30 degree heat to bitter cold and on terrains from tarmac and gravel to thick mud and deep puddles! :o I've run on the lovely flat of a coastal promenade in Folkestone to the lunacy of Box Hill in Surrey!  :P

Every single run throws it's challenges at you, some easy, others a lot harder! I tried the treadmill a few times but soon lost interest as nothing around me was changing, nothing interesting, no scenery, no motivation, boring. The constant sound of my feet on the treadmill was annoying and in the end I just thought "This ain't for me!' I'd sooner not run than do an hour on a treadmill, that's my sentiments on that!

Running is the best exercise for you. Get some proper running trainers to cushion yourself when running otherwise in the long term you may regret it. You'll be surprised how much easier running trainers make it for you, and your body is working easier as it doesn't take big impacts to the ground with each stride. Look after your joints!

A point well made. Of all the running shoes out there my running shoe of choice is ASICS, I wear the GT2120 which cost £100 at the time I bought them. They're like wearing slippers and feel like they've been sprayed onto my feet, they're that snug a fit and with good cushioning and support all round. I aim to buy a pair of trail shoes this year for all those crazy off-roader's. It's a personal choice when buying a running shoe but I would seriously recommend going to a specialist runner's shop for the best advice. Don't get sucked into the latest fashion or colours, it's about practicality, the right shoe for you and the running you do! Gage the price and shop around, you can get some great deals on the Net, specialist running shops tend to be dear but that's their prerogative.

And so onto the next run in my calender, my 3rd of the month and 4th of the year is...

For Interest Only!!! Listen...Do You Want to Know a Secret

My suggestion is for the 8 mile mark, which I think is the nearest to 28 Ullett Road, the former home of John Brodie, former Liverpool City Engineer. The house has a blue plaque. Among other achievements John Brodie invented the goal net. This invention and its first use are described in Played in Liverpool by Ray Physick, published in 2007.

I came across the house and plaque while running the 2007 Liverpool Half Marathon, somewhere around the eight or nine mile mark, - number 28 Ullett Road to be precise. As I got to this large house on the edge of a park I noticed the blue plaque on the wall and just couldn’t run by without stopping to read it. This was the home of John Brodie, former City Engineer of Liverpool. It was though, his invention of the goal net which has been so important to the growth of civilisation. I stood there stunned with reverence and appreciation, thinking of the swish of the ball and the balletic ripple of the net, and all the joy and pleasure that this has brought to so many.

I'd just like to add in 2008 Liverpool, the Capital of Culture, has not planned to hold a Marathon, Unbelievable isn't it?!  :f_doh: >:( Your support in signing the online petition through the link below may be the difference, you never know... Please sign it, thanks.

      My response was:
Liverpool is the 2008 Capital of Culture. I am a long distance runner from Liverpool.
A city of Liverpool's stature should stage a marathon to commemorate this prestigious event, it's that simple. The eyes of the world are watching Liverpool...
