Maybe BR had it right, and had spotted something none of us did or could.

At his best, Reina certainly ticked all the boxes for a BR style sweeper keeper, and his distribution was pretty good all round.

It's starting to appear as though there was more to this than BR falling out with him.

Seems that way. When Rafa wasn't breaking a leg to sign him up at Napoli last year you knew something wasn't up.

Agree with everything about what Reina was. Wouldn't have swapped him for another keeper in the world. AT ALL. Just a sublime keeper and probably the best we've ever had?

To be fair there isn't a keeper in the world who could realistically compete with Neuer so it's no surprise at all.

This deal comes down to him not getting much game time rather than his character or personality.

IMO Brendan probably just didn't want to deal with such a big personality and his ramblings of why he's on the bench and not starting. I still think he's better than Mignolet.

Was thinking more about him joining Napoli on a free, after signing a 3 year contract last summer.
It just seems odd to me that Bayern didn't want even a nominal fee.

      Courtois, De Gea, Lloris.

I'm a fan of Lloris but he's not in that league.

      Agreed.
Right now, Neuer, Courtois and De Gea are miles ahead of any other keepers I've seen (and I'd put them in that order as well in terms of rating).

Still wouldn't be able to take Neuer's place and would still spend most the season sat on the bench IMO.

Agreed Neuer is head and shoulders above everyone.

I doubt anyone can match his decision making.

Just watching him against Fiorentina and it's clear to see that he's still a really good sweeper keeper. He mops up anything that makes its way through the defence and he's always running across the byline when his defenders have possession of the ball deep in the corner.

his strength is Migs weakness his ability to hit a long pass is fantastic similar to how Migs finds touch. Love him back but it aint going to happen.

World class save that too, I'd have been done by that bounce without doubt.

I was watching that game and also commented on that save and celebration in the Serie A thread. It was amazing, I realized then just how much I miss Pepe - his saves, his character, his enthusiasm. It was brilliant. Really hope Napoli go on to win the league!

But we've got Migs now, a much better shot-stopper...

that whole era was just so special its why a freak out at the Rafa knockers. Pepe is class and the best distributor of a ball anywhere .His strength is Simons weakness. Both he and Arbeloa are still probably the best goal celebrators we have had

What a goalkeeper, and what a nice guy... I've met him twice, he's playing for my local team. I do wish we still had him!
