      Fabio Capello
      Jan 14, 2008 11:31:09 pm
Just watching him in a mini-interview then on the News at Ten.

The missus summed it up perfectly.

'Isn't it ridiculous that the England manager can't even speak English'.

Have to say - even if he is the greatest manager in the world - it is just a bit... silly.

(At least we can enjoy listening to an Englishman trying to worm his way out of it).

It is silly. But that word 'silly' usually has a lot to do with the FA as well....

I suppose you don't have to speak English these days with regards to the press though. They can usually translate English into an entirely different language of their own.

Does anyone else reckon Capello looks like he's just stepped out of Prisoner Cell Block H?

..Not only he doesn't speak English, but looks like he is under investigation for tax fraud in Turin...The English press will have a meal of it, so in the end the first big test of Capello is not Switzerland but the English media...

English media are the test for any manager, not only for Capello.

I heard about the way  Italians speak English

It's funny! But it may be funny when I speak English myself. Don't know :-[

Give him time, please to get used to England!

I just can't understand why he was given the job in the first place considering the F.A. knew about the allegations beforehand , i mean Terry Venables stood down because of the up coming court cases so as not to cause any embarrassement to england.
He should still be in the job, the best available english manager for the job in my eyes !

Fabio Capello's reign has begun with a new hard-line approach but is this the best way to get more out of England's under-performing stars?

The Italian has reportedly banned agents and WAGS from the team hotel, ordered double training sessions and demanded the players wear suits for games.

He also plans to name his team just before kick-off to keep players guessing on the starting line-up.

Will this extra discipline work? Should Capello keep his team under-wraps until the last minute to keep England's stars on their toes?

No Wags?  Strict discipline?  What will the sports writers write about?

I know, they could talk about football.

Sorry state of affairs that our national manager, from a country of 60 million people, that once ruled the world is an Italian.

No, I'm not getting all nationalistic - but can you imagine Italy hiring an Englishman for the job.  Or Germany?

Even if he ever won the World Cup he couldn't get knighted for instance.

The reason we have a foreigner as manager is because the press ridicule every English manager to pieces.  They can't do it as easily with the foreigners.

the line up for the match England- Switzerland Don Fabio told his players in the bus 2 hours before the game.
David James said he thinks that approach is right because it helps players to be more concentrated as if they had known about line-up some days before, it would have made them relaxed

i think hes gonna do a decent job hes a no nonsense hard nut who will bring discipline and direction for the team, he'll weed out the players who are lazy or have big ego's. guus hiddink did a massive improvement for Australia and ended up taking them to the world cup. I understand the not being an Englishman thing but I'm sorry when you don't have a manager from your own country that cant do the job then thats when the FA need to look at the training system for managers in england and own up to not being up to par. Australia owned up to it and they've been getting better ever since (not that they are up to England's standards).

So I'm wishing all the best for Capella and the squad, the future does look bright for england and I'm glad i can walk around in my england jersey with pride again. (even if it does come second to liverpool)

This is  the sort of con that I think he would be, if anyone watches PrisonBreak, his name is Charles Westmore.
He's like a con that behaves good because hes been in there so long.
