Would definitely rather him here than Lovren.

Still think that him and Sakho would have been an interesting combination in the back.

      For sure.

In the four games a season they would have both been fit to play together :P

To be honest here,I never liked the way Agger was handled by Brendan or FSG.A fairly good player and the defender with whom Rodgers had the most number of clean sheets during his first two season.A loyal player who didn't left when owl tried to oust him after which i became a big fan of him(probably still my favourite player).

Never deserved the way he was treated in August(while we were on the US tour and after that).I was devasted when he was sold.People would tried to spin the talk that he wasn't good enough, well he certainly was and probably is better than 20 mil Lovren who was supposed to be a leader.

Will never forget that elbow on Torres.

Alright Agger was fantastic but as healthy as an asthmatic duck allergic to water. Must have been frustrating to have him injured for such long periods of time and would be a little unfair to continually slot him back into the team injury after injury. I imagine management lost faith in him to keep fit and so did I and everyone else for that matter. When fit he was my favourite defender but let's not act like he'd been our most solid reliable defender that we could count on because he wasn't.

It's oversold that mate, if you ignore one season (granted a terrible one in terms of injuries) he played as much as Skrtel.

      Apps:

      43
      6 (clearly the terrible year)
      26
      36
      21
      34
      39
      23

There's a reason why Barca and City were known to be after him, he was simply pure class. I'd take Agger half a season over any other CB at the club without a second thought.

3 of my favourite players mate, I'm sure I bore the forum with the amount I harp on about them but all 3 could still be here and we'd be in better shape than we are now that's without a single doubt.

An injury prone, half fit Agger will always be a much better option than a fully fit Lovren.

      Manquillo--Lovren--Sakho--Moreno

A back four invested by Brendan. A back four that cost us £50m. How are they so sh*t?

Manquillo is not even at the club anymore. Loan signing for the season.
Lovren and Sakho don't play together because they compete for the same LCB postion.

Agreed Daz, I think much more is made of that comment than was intended by it.

Yep if you actually read the statement/open letter from Agger, he actually tells you what the real reason was, him and Rodgers clashed as Rodgers didn't like being challenged.

The whole can't cope with the rigours of premier league football was what was agreed by the club so that he could leave on compassionate grounds other than the breakdown in relationship of player and manager, its all in his statement.

Shame to see such a talented CB have to retire early.
Always liked Agger, classy player in his day, unfortunately plagued with injury.
All the very best for the future Daniel!!!!!!

Shame that! A player whose career was stifled by injury. Was linked with a move to AC Milan just a few weeks ago.

One of my favourite players to watch over the past ten years who made defending look easy. He was a class act and the calibre of his admirers speaks volumes for his ability.

His passion and love for the club made him a fan favourite. It was great having a CB who could carry the ball out from the back and have a shot every now and then too!

A very good footballer but he was never physically strong enough to establish himself as one of the leagues best in my opinion. Agger used to struggle against big forwards like Drogba (although he is a handful for most) but even shi**er ones like Zamora. Unfortunately Daniel was plagued by injuries too.

One of my favourite players in recent years though, wish him all the best for his future. YNWA.

Great player and his love for the club will put him down as a legend for me anyway.

Who could forget his goal against Chelsea in 2007 Champions League Semi-final.

And that thunder c**t against Blackburn.

Oh and probably his best moment in a Liverpool shirt, dropping Torres  :D

      Nah he just genuinely couldn't.

All the best to Dagger, a great and composed defender in his time with us, one who sadly didn't win the trophies his talent deserved due to no fault of his own.

Good luck to him for the future!!

I don't think forearm to the face equates to being a tackle :D
