The reason we've signed Skrtel is because the last couple of months have shown the need for four centre backs. I don't think Sami's going anywhere til Rafa decides Hobbs is ready.

I see him lasting til next January. I see Hobbs coming into the fold properly from the start of next season but think we'll hang on to Sami for a bit just in case it doesn't work out.

Im not so optimistic I reckon when the end of the season comes around he might call it a day and rafa (assuming he's still there, we hope !) might have to bring hobbs into the run of things quicker than he would like.

He better have some decent footie boots sorted by now.

Hopefully he'll get a full game for the reserves tomorrow. But it would be too early for him to start on Saturday, surely? Really looking forward to him being back in defence with Carragher though. I'm still wondering why it's taken so long for him to be back available. Maybe he's been working on his scouse accent?

I think RAFA will let Sami Hypia go at the end of this season for free in the hope that Sami will get a good contract for himself. He did the same with Didi Hamann and it did not work out too badly for Didi.Sami will always be remembered as a good player and a loyal RED whatever happens. It is good to see Danny Agger back for the reserves, hope he quickly regains the form he had B4 his injury.

Tonight's reserve clash at Blackburn Rovers has been called off due to a waterlogged pitch.
No new date has yet been set for the fixture.

Looks like we may have to wait a bit longer :-\

      From LFC Site

Daniel Agger today spoke of his delight at finally closing in on a first team return.

Agger has been out of action since breaking a metatarsal bone against Portsmouth in September but is now back in training after completing the long road to recovery.

However, his chance of getting match fitness under his belt for the reserves tonight has been dashed following the postponement of the game at Blackburn due to a waterlogged pitch.

He said: "I'm almost there, but of course I am going to need some playing time.

"Running around on the training ground is not the same as doing it on the pitch, but I'm almost back to full fitness now.

"I can't describe the feeling really. Especially as I'm here in Liverpool to play football. When you're not able to play, then well, I won't say there's no point in me being here, but it can sometimes feel that way.

"I'm looking very much forward to getting back. It is not fun being on the sidelines, especially not when you're at a club like this.

"There is massive competition for places, and it's all about giving your absolute best every time you play.

"It goes without saying that it's hard to do that when you're out, and being out for four months over such a small bone in my foot has been very frustrating."

Finally it looks like he is really there.  Might get a run against Luton.

Missed him alot not only in defence but in attack, his link up play kept us from playing hoof ball. Hopefuly we will see an end to that when he comes back.

How about a song for the lad? Danny Boy comes to mind :D

What the hell is going on with his foot?  ???

      http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/drilldown/N158405080114-1353.htm

Daniel Agger has suffered a recurrence of the metatarsal injury which has kept him out since September.
Specialists have yet to confirm how long the Dane will now be out of action, but Rafa Benitez doesn't expect Agger to feature this month.

The news comes just days after the centre-back was due to make a comeback in a reserve game at Blackburn, only for the match to be cancelled due to the weather.

Benitez told Liverpoolfc.tv: "We've had some bad news in that Agger has the same problem again. He was training and ready to play but yesterday in training he felt something, so we need to go back and start from the beginning.

"It's not easy to say when he will be back. He is going to see different surgeons and then we will be able to analyse the situation."

Asked if the defender was likely to feature in the next few weeks, Benitez added: "No, I don't think so."

Aside from Agger, Benitez has a clean bill of health for the FA Cup third round replay with Luton on Tuesday night.

The Spaniard added: "Fabio Aurelio is fit again and the other players are available."

F***ing hell! Is he the new Kewell? At least Skrtel will be more confident than Arbeloa in central defence.

Just read some bad news on the injury front, Daniel Agger has suffered a set back with his foot injury and will now be out for at least a couple more weeks   :f_steam:

This really is'nt what we need, how come if Rooney or Terry break their foot they are only out for like a couple of weeks but when it is a liverpool player they are out for ages

Ah!! Poor Dan....he must be absolutely gutted, just when he was on the brink of coming back as well.

Must be terribly frustrating for him >:(

Well it looks like Martin Skrtel will be thrown in at the deep end whether he likes it or not...
