Good start for the hosts then. Last gasp winner for Ghana apparently.

Morocco are currently winning 2 - 1 but the biggest shock is how fat the referee is... he's huge!

Anyway I'd just like to say that I think the music in the background of the stadiums in Africa sounds beautiful, don't know what instruments the fans are using but it makes it feel special :)

I want winner to be North African team, prefarably Tunisia if not then Morocco. I also like Nigeria, but think of Ivory Coast as scum.. maybe because they have Prem players in team such as Drogba, Kalou, Toure, Eboue, Zokora etc

Hope Egypt & Tunisia go through tommorow. We need some North African's in the tie, not all west Africans.

Oh and these refs being used for the ACON are seriously biased, African officials are seriously corrupt. Ghana got 'all' the 50 50 desicions towards them when playing Morocco... same with Senegal against Tunisia.

      Why everyone going for Cameroon?
It's nice to support a team that can player proper football. No offense to Cameroon but their football is all about being physical whereas Egypt play a nice European style of football which is nice to watch. Thats why they gave ivory coast a good beating!

I guess your answer is somewhere in your question. It's probably a slight resentment of the European style that Egypt has clearly mastered. It wins games most of the times but I think most Africans want to see African soccer winning the African Cup Of Nations now and again.

Personally I think Song is too old and since Bikey managed to get himself red-carded in the dying minutes of the game...the Indomitable Lions will struggle with keeping the pacey Egyptians out of their box. It will be very interesting to watch.

Well lets put it this way, the only teams that Cameroon can't beat in 90 minutes are the North African teams. It's because North African teams play a total different style of football compared to the West Africans. They play clever football with a lot of passing where as the West Africans play with more power and pace but with less technique.

Look at Tunisia, they outplayed Cameroon in parts of the game, just like Egypt did. Only Morocco were the disappointing North African team, yet they still played an attractive style of football. Algeria produce the best players around including Zidane, Nasri & Menez but its a shame they can't keep their players otherwise what a team they'd be!

Somehow I can't see Cameroon getting a result against Egypt. I think the North African's will dominate most of the match with their extreme intelligence and just play the ball around nicely. Cameroon concede goals, Egypt score goals!

Egypt will win the whole competition though, they are a class act!

      I mark my words!

You marked them well young jedi. The force was with you.

      http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/africa/7236614.stm

Defending champions Egypt won a record sixth Africa Cup of Nations with a fully-deserved victory over Cameroon.

The only goal of the game came in the 77th minute when Mohamed Aboutrika pushed home a Mohamed Zidan pass after a mistake by Cameroon's Rigobert Song.

The Pharaohs also came close when Hosni Abd Rabou hit the post on 61 minutes and become the first side to win back-to-back titles twice.

Cameroon were seeking a fifth title, but rarely troubled the Pharaohs.

It was a triumph for Egypt coach Hassan Shehata who becomes only the second coach to win successive trophies, and his team had much the better of the first half, creating most of the scoring chances with their speed and mobility.

Once again Cameroon based their game on physical power, taking a defensive approach that supplied few openings to lone striker Samuel Eto'o.

Aboutrika came close on 13 minutes, with a 35-yard shot that was pushed around the post by Cameroon goalkeeper Carlos Kameni.

Two minutes later the Indomitable Lions were forced to make a substitution, with Gilles Binya replacing Alexandre Song, who was carrying an injury from the previous game.

Cameroon defender Geremi forced a save from Essam Al-Hadari from a free-kick, but the Pharaohs almost took the lead seconds later.

Hadari's clearance found Emad Moteab, whose 15-yard shot was parried brilliantly by Kameni, but into the path of Aboutrika, whose shot was too high.

Nine minutes before half-time a ball over the Cameroon defence found Moteab inside the area, Kameni made a fine save from the shot, and it remained goalless.

Cameroon came back from the break with purpose, causing the tempo of the match to increase considerably, but Egypt quickly took control of the game again.

Kameni had to make two more fine saves, from a close-range Amr Zaki shot, then from Abd-Rabou's 25-yard cracker that he punched away.

The Pharaohs continued to pile on pressure, and Abd-Rabou hit the post with a header on 61 minutes.

With 13 minutes remaining, Egypt finally got the goal they deserved.

Cameroon captain Rigobert Song was punished for untidy defending, losing a tussle with substitute Zidan.

Zidan pushed the ball along the edge of the box into the path of Aboutrika, who had a simple finish from 15 yards.

As Egypt celebrated, Song covered his face with his shirt, knowing that he should have cleared the ball away.

Song headed over the bar in stoppage-time, but there was to be no redemption for the defender, in his seventh Nations Cup.

Egypt won the first two editions of the tournament, in 1957 and 1959, but with the competition far more intense now, these victories have far greater significance.

Shehata's feat of two Cups in a row matched that of Ghana's CK Gyamfi, who won the tournament in 1963 and 1965.

Aboutrika's goal was the 99th of the tournament, which produced more goals than any other Nations Cup.

Get in, I would of gone mad if Cameroon won it. Cameroon are far too physical and dirty to be worthy winners, also Egypt played fantastic team football and you could see a great spirit among the players!

Why didn't Egypt play in WC 2006 if they play so well. They have won ACN for the second time in a row.

They just went through a bad patch at the wrong time. Trust me they'll be playing in WC 2010 and they'll do well but probably won't get any further than last 32

      Congratulations to Egypt!
African teams are progressing now very quickly. So many African players play in Europe.
As I remember Côte d’Ivoire got to 1/8 in 2006 and Senegal to 1/4 in 2002. So Egypt will be able to repeat those achievment.
