      New Stadium - Cutting Corners
      Jan 25, 2008 04:07:58 pm
After many a depressing day, lets try and lift our spirits a little.

Someone posted on one of the topics that they may be building the Stadium out of Lego to cut costs.

Lets start a not so serious topic about what may be left out of the New anfield to cut costs?  No serious answers please!!

Left out of the design?  71,000 fans who are boycotting it? ;) (Oops that was a serious answer!)

To cut costs they have left out:

      - visiting teams changing room
      - trophy room - items will be displayed on Hicks and Gillett's mantle-pieces instead
      - all the glass in the frames.  Fans will be required to sing loudly to help heat the ground

To save costs on grass and replacing it regularly they will be using a new "3G" pitch with those annoying black bits which get in you shoes.

      Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard said:

"The missus hates me coming home after playing on these pitches, the little rubber bits get everywhere!"

Also apparently all fans sat in the back rows will be required to contribute somewhat to holding the roof up.

Getting someone else to pay for it is a big cost cutter! ;) ::)

Maybe there's imaginary stands? Everyone just gathers in Stanley Park and imagines a big stadium! ::) We're really all getting soaked and we're 2-0 down against Tottenham but it's all rosy in our heads! ;)

To save costs they aren't actually building a new stadium.  They're just moving all the houses out the way.

Instead of real life human workmen to build it, they thought it would be a good idea to bring the Doozers in from Fragle Rock to build it instead. Cheap labour.

The whole thing has been reduced to such a laughing stock, that the new anfield will form the basis of a new series of property ladder.

The only up side to this,(and it is a massive upside), is that Sarah Beany (Her with the humungous breasts) is to be filiming in Stanley Park for the next 3 years.!!!!!!

I would have thought with the amount of money being spent in the area it might be a case of Location Location Location paying a visit and any way i much prefer that Kirstie Allsop to Sarah Beeney especially from the rear !

You sir are not of a right mind to say that Kirsty bird is better than the "Beany"

We are both winners, cos Ch4 has the rights, so it will be one or the other.

IM sorry but I must defend my sanity here,  I am predominately a breast man in which case I would normally agree with you but my second weakness is for a nice "rear bumper" and I just think that overall Kirstie has the better "chassis" ! ;D

Rumour has it we're not actually moving to a new stadium at all, but are just making the seats in Anfield a lot smaller so 71,000 can fit in there.

The lego idea may actually work.  Everyone going to the game just brings in one box of lego and helps build it during halftime.  At that rate it should be complete by 2015.  :P

Looks like you could bounce on him.  if they make it from Lego, the kids could build it. yet another way to cut some costs.  my lad is 4 and a genius with the plastic blocks.

is it possible to make the seats smaller.  i was in the centenary for the west ham game and my mate is 6'4 and had his knees in front of his eyes. Rumour has it Jimmy Kranky designed the seats.

They didn't hire Multiplex did they? them bloody yanks will do anything to same a dime or two  :f_steam:

Multiplex warns of Wembley project own goal as losses mount

MULTIPLEX, the Australian construction group building the new Wembley football stadium in London, today warned that it faced possible heavy losses from the £500 million flagship project.
The firm had originally agreed to cover losses on the project up to around £21m, but said today that margins may have "deteriorated significantly" and that losses could jump.

John Roberts, who set up the company in 1962, has agreed to step down as executive chairman while another director has also left the board. Shares in the Sydney-listed group have been suspended while the company takes a further look at the position, which emerged following a internal review. It expects to provide further information on Monday.

One of the outcomes of the review could be a "loss position significantly greater" than the £21m covered by the Roberts Family indemnity, a statement said.

The stadium project is due to be completed in time for next season's FA Cup Final.

A spokesman for Multiplex said today: "We are still very confident that we will meet our contractual obligations."

(which they did not as we played West Ham in the Millennium stadium, Cardiff

      RE: Stanley Park Stadium

We have a few updates for you regarding the progress of the new Stanley Park Stadium. There are several things that are being changed, some for the better, some for the worse:

      - The space for the Car & Coach Park will be decreased significantly ... infact it will most likely be removed altogether, due to the drooling, childish Mancs & Toffs needing somewhere to "play".
      - In addition, both goals will be removed and replaced by scrunched-up tops. Both sides must agree on a suitable goal-size before the match begins, however.
      - The away fans will have no stairs/railings, and instead will be asked to climb to their allocated seats. Again, this is due to cutting costs.

      Lovely Jubbly.
