Well that was pretty pathetic, in the long list of calamitous performances that must be up near the top.

Hard to believe that a test match starts tomorrow, England simply must win this series

With the state of West Indian cricket right now, it should really be a formality.

Unsurprisingly it's Bell and Root who, once again, dig England out of a hole. Both will be disappointed with the way they got out but at least they both got runs. Top order needs to be reassessed. If they want to Cook to open for the Ashes, send him back to Essex until then to get some runs under his belt because right now it's a mental block for him in Test cricket. Trott is not an opener in my opinion, if he's coming back into the side, put him back at three. And Ballance just isn't up to it unfortunately.

Good to see Stokes get a few runs. I'm unsure about him at present but at least he's scored and scored quickly at that.

very harsh on ballance, start to his test career has been excellent, agree about trott.

Ballance a good player, who usually steadies the innings. Well done to Bell & Root pulling England out of the mire, once again.

It probably is harsh thinking about it and it's probably the embarrassment of the World Cup that's got me this frustrated with him. He has been very good for us at number 3 in the Tests since he was brought in.

Absolute joke that Adam Lyth who scored almost 1500 runs last season at 67 didn't get a chance ahead of someone who isn't even an opener. Awful decision to bring Trott back IMO.

If there was an obvious replacement for cook as captain I'd sack him know, clueless and so negative

      Joe Root lad.

I keep saying it, if this is a "new" England side heading for the future then get a young captain in who will lead this team. Joe Root is the answer. He's our best batsmen right now in my opinion, clearly has the respect of the other players and seems to get under the skin of the opposition (especially Dave Warner). Perfect material for a captain.

I'd F**k Cook off to Essex tomorrow, go score some runs in the county championship ahead of the Ashes.

to be honest thinking about it he would be a good choice, still young and fresh, just feel our captaincy needs to be less structured and show more imagination, follow plans but it looks so robotic and captaincy by numbers
