Smith with another century and looks like he isn’t going anywhere.

England need a bit of momentum here because it’s shaping up to be a very tough chase.

Dont like to acknowledge Smith but boy what a batsman.

Englands ball has gone soft, need the umpire to change it for us.

England always up against it with 2 full time bowlers, an all rounder and Moeen. We're not out of this yet, the wicket has died but of course Lyon will out bowl the very out of sorts Moeen.

Thank goodness the football is back ;D

It's over now like. 3 and a half sessions to bat I guess to salvage a draw.

Guess it depends on how the morning session goes and how well the Aussies can use the new ball. If England can get to lunch and have only lost 1 or 2 wickets then it could start to drag, but you feel it would require a massive effort from the middle order. Pitch hasn’t really looked up to much for the bowlers so far and it’s not exactly going to be in better shape on day 5.

Burns gone for 11. Not the ideal start.

Let’s hope Jimmy’s fit for the 2nd test, only option England haven’t tried for Smith yet :D

Awful from Roy. England lacking a spin bowler of any class for day 4/5 pitches whereas Aussies have Lyon.

Is Tim Payne really the best keeper batsman they have over there?

      Glove work is not good.

England in need of someone to #digin here Ala Paul Collingwood.

Why review that Denley you tit?

Denly out off the bat..wasted a review..don't know why he's picked in the first place. Good county player..but not a TM player.

To me our order is wrong. Buttler should be below Stokes and Roy is not a test opener, more of a middle order player in this format.

Denley to come out and ideally an opener to come in. As a country though we are very short of batsman.

Hard to see who can save the match beyond Root and Stokes in fairness. The flashy players will have to stop 'playing their natural game'. They were going on about that again last night. The team still cant process it.

Play the situation,  not what they think is 'their game'.

It's the number of balls faced that matters today not runs scored. Need a few to face 150.

      This games done now.

Yes looks all over bar the shouting.Roy must take a lot of the blame.A loonatic shot undermines the innings. These tests come thick and fast so if England don't get their arse in gear, a thrashing is on the cards. Archer might do well but our test batting line up is stuck in white ball mode to a degree.Struggling to replace Cook and even Burns isn't established.

Umpires need to make sure bowlers stay off the wicket as well.

Bumble being kind to Roy.OK he's aggressive but given the circs that shot was never ever worth the risk.Played right into Aussie hands. To be fair the pitch is a swine but get yer head down and at least try and grind it out.

I get that is the way Roy plays and may be it goes with the territory. Pick him and blocking an innings out is not going to happen.Still a terrible shot to play given the situation.

This white ball/red ball is a difficult deal. Juggling the players across both versions of the game won't be easy but Test match cricket is still vital to the well being of the sport.

Butler not a Test match batsman..out for 1..played inside a fairly innocuous delivery.

I can see an issue with red ball white ball for perhaps pushing with hard hands or some small detail like that, but surely these blokes know to play according to situations. Dont dance down the wicket on a day 5 pitch when you're playing for a draw and try and smash it. Stokes just dismissed but you could see his intention was to defend.

England were despite the scoreline very close to winning this game, and with a fit Anderson could perhaps have won this by an innings.

At 120/8 the game was with England. I'm hoping Archer comes in and causes the Aussies some problems next game.

England have got the batting depth over Australia, they just need it to fire. Nothings decided in the series just yet.

England need to find a spinner though. Moeen going backwards in both disciplines at this level.

All over now.Yes have to look for the positives.Few crumbs of comfort but well beaten in the end.If it was reversed I think the Aussies would've made a decent fist of it. England just collapsed.
