Most dominant slam performance in my lifetime. That was scarily easy throughout the whole tournament.

Swept Thiem and Stan in the semi and final. Nuts.

So Federer wins the Australian Open and Nadal wins the French Open.

We're in 2017 aren't we? Are you sure we've not traveled back to 2007?

Nadal made mince meat of the French Open. He's been getting better and better this year, not looked this strong and consistent for a number of years, maybe he is finally over the injury problems. Hopefully, because playing like he has done is great to watch and he's been a loss to Tennis over the last few years.

Legendary Italy and AC Milan footballer Paolo Maldini has qualified for a professional tennis tournament on the ATP Challenger Tour.

The 48-year-old, capped 126 times by Italy, won a qualifier in Italy with doubles partner Stefano Landonio.

Landonio, 46, was once ranked 975 in the world and has coached Maldini since he retired in 2009.

The pair will compete at the Aspria Tennis Cup, a Challenger Tour event in Milan which begins on 29 June.

The Challenger Tour is the tier below the top-level ATP World Tour, which features the best players in the world.

Maldini spent 31 years with AC Milan, 24 of them as a professional, winning seven league titles and the Champions League five times.

He will be 49 on the day the Aspria Tennis Cup begins, with 16 doubles pairings competing on clay.

John McEnroe getting it from all angles with his recent comments that Serena Williams wouldn't beat the top 700 players in the men's game.

Seems that if you make a statement alluding to the fact that the women's game is not on the same level as the men's game then you get shouted down from all angles. Pathetic isn't it? Don't get me wrong - she is without doubt the greatest female tennis player of all time. Perhaps the greatest female sportswomen of all time. But it looks to me like it's partly fuelled (amongst other things) by a sensitive American press covering for the fact that they have no other name to shout about in men's or women's tennis so they're quite happy to prop up daft and over exaggerated assumptions regarding her ability.

Truth is, the reality is closer to McEnroe's observations than theirs. Much much closer.

I think he's being kind I'd suggest  any man in the top 1000 would easily beat any female player. It is a nonsense that they are paid the same, the Woman's game is utter crap these days.

The prize money thing doesn't bother me because at the end of the day it's still the case that the women's tour lags behind the earnings seen on the men's tour. I read somewhere that Murray is the fifth highest earning star in the men's game having earned near to $30m, compared to the fifth highest earner in the women's game which is Petra Kvitova who has earned just over $7m. Approaching it from that angle you realise there is still a substantial gap between the men's and women's game. Establishing more prize money at the grand slams and such has allowed it to reduce somewhat which is only fair because it's important to attract women to the game of tennis as much as it is for the men. If we want to see the highest quality in the women's game I think it's only right that more money is available in the women's tour. If there's more prize money then there's greater capacity for more women players to break even and start funding their coaching and trips across the world. A player ranked 150 in men's tennis for instance will be able to sustain himself far more than someone ranked 150 in the women's game. That's not right.

So yeah - I'm all for equal pay in women's tennis but I won't pretend for one second that Serena Williams can be comparable to anything at the highest professional level of the men's game as some who are in a state of rampant denial at the moment.

It was sad to see Nick Kyrgios retire from his first round match yesterday. His temperament is poor and attitude as well but he is a fantastic player who has yet to show what he really is all about. I just wish he can get it altogether - he gets a bit too much stick but below the surface there's a good guy there, as opposed to his fellow Aussie Bernard Tomic who is quite simply a grade A bell end along with his c**t of a father. Thankfully he lost to Mischa Zverev just a few moments ago.

Nadal two sets down against Muller. Murray goes through in straight sets against Paire although it was much harder than the scoreline suggests. Not at his best is Murray and not as quick and powerful as he has been in the past these past couple of matches. Dimitrov v Federer could be a fascinating match coming up.

Wow - what an incredible match! When a game lasts that long no player deserves to lose. Nadal fans must be gutted. Gilles Muller must be the most ice cool man on this planet at the moment. Amazing serves that guy had and, in the end, fully deserved.

I'm tempted to agree with you. I think this was as good a chance as any in recent years to win it once more. But given that he had lost to the likes of Rosol, Dustin Brown and Kyrgios in recent years at Wimbledon I was still a bit weary as to whether he could do the job like in 08 and 2010. But his form last week and at the French Open was so incredible that it lessened any wearying doubts so today was still a big surprise for me. Serve and volley specialists like Muller seem to have a field day against him at Wimbledon. Having said that if Nadal had beaten Muller today I think he would have had no problem dispatching Cilic (as merciful as that would be - never liked the Croat) in the next round and his opponent in the semi finals. If they had met in the semi finals (which was many people's predictions) I also think Nadal would have comfortably beaten Murray as well given Murray's struggles from the baseline for much of this tournament.
