At work the other day I had a bit of spare time (very unusual!) so I conjured up a word game with a work colleague who is pretty well versed in the English language.
The idea of the game is:
Start a word with
3 or more syllables
using the last letter of the preceding word.
It's that simple - or so we thought! The longer we played the more we noticed words ending with the letter Y. Eventually
3 syllable words starting with the letter Y
will be exhausted so I thought, in an emergency
, why not use the 2nd last letter of the previous word for continuity
of the game - obviously "t
" in this case.
There will probably be some words uncommon to other people so if you can add a description after the word this game will not only be a bit of fun but an education too!
I came up with a 7 syllable word during the game so if you can better that I will be intrigued! (You are likely to get a + if the word is real!) Don't forget to use the spell-checker, that's what it's there for!
The 1st word of this game has to be SYL-LA-BLE
A word consisting of three syllables (such as Liverpool) is called a trisyllable. A word consisting of more than three syllables (such as intelligence) is called a polysyllable (and could be described as polysyllabic).
The next 3 syllable (or more) word starts with E
