      Liverpool legend Ian Rush has joined the malaysian coaching staff , this was confirmed today .

      Ian will be striker coach for the national team .

      I'm curious, why is Rush not as loved/favoured as the likes of, Barnes, Gerrard, Dalglish, Fowler, Torres, Alonso, Suarez, Carra etc? I rarely see his name mentioned when people name their best team or players.

      I only caught the latter end of his career, around 95/96 onwards. and even then, I don't remember much of him. Looking at wiki, his best years were, 81-91? A decade of consistency in goal scoring, 346 goals for us. Why is he not as revered as the other big name players we had over the years?
