      MASCHERANO RETURNS IN MILAN
      Paul Eaton 11 March 2008
Javier Mascherano returns to the Liverpool side for this evening's clash in the San Siro as manager Rafael Benitez makes five changes to the side which defeated Newcastle at the weekend.
Mascherano has recovered from injury and replaces Xabi Alonso in the centre of midfield while Fabio Aurelio, Dirk Kuyt, Sami Hyypia and Ryan Babel also earn recalls.

Jamie Carragher is likely to operate at right back as he makes his 100th appearance for the Reds in Europe.

The Liverpool team for tonight's game is:

      Reina
      Carragher
      Skrtel
      Hyypia
      Aurelio
      Lucas
      Mascherano
      Babel
      Kuyt
      Gerrard
      Torres

      Subs:
      Itandje
      Riise
      Voronin
      Benayoun
      Crouch
      Pennant
      Arbeloa

Looks like we're sticking with the 4-3-3 then. That team's definitely good enough for the job in hand, 1-0 to us I reckon.

4-2-3-1/4-3-3 formation again has been working well for us in our last 5 games and im glad rafa has put faith in those who played against milan at anfield even though it means others miss out. Lets take this game to them and show them what were made of. Show them the passion of Liverpool FC and show why we shouldnt be underestimated.

      Voronin on the bench.  :o

Decent side. One capable of getting a goal no doubt. As long as the idea keeps strong that we have to keep a clean sheet, we'll have a good outlet with Torres and Babel.

      I hate pre match nerves.

OH WHEN THE REDS GO MARCHING IN!!!!!!!!!!

Voronin wont get on the pitch because Rafa would not risk putting a player back from injury in a game this big unless they are a key player such as masch for example.

Its going to be a 4-2-3-1 again

I feel they can win this game 2-0 aswell with El Nino grabbing both goals on either side of half time.
This could also be a good game for Babel and Kuyt to attack and score though because the form Gerrard and Torres are in they are going to be concentrating on them alot more.

      COME ON LIVERPOOL!!!

Can't wait now! He's gone very attacking, i was expecting Rafa to play us more defensive.

Feeling confident of a 2-0 tonight although would happily settle for a 2-1 so long as we progress. Hope Lucas has a good match, he's my only concern but I think he'll be up for it, he knows what's at stake.

Would like to see Crouchy get a run out once the game is sown up, he deserves it for his patience but I'm sure he'd be only too willing (and reluctant) to admit it that the Gerrard / Nando combo is working a treat at present. Risse has had a decent run of form lately and I love him to play skittles with the Inter defense, unleashing a powerful shot or two as he does. Quite surprised to see my little pony-tail on the subs bench, wouldn't expect to see him on but Pennant probably for Kuyt late on, especially if Crouchy comes on for Torres or Stevie.

        A huge congratulations to
:kop5cf8koxp6: Jamie Carragher for his 100th European call up for Liverpool, :kop5cf8koxp6:

I think we will lose 2-1 but will go through without too much of a struggle.

The away goal we will score at some point, means that they will need to score 4 past our Pepe... and that simply aint happening people.

On our current form we will score 1 no probs.

Looks more like the all new singing and dancing 4-2-3-1 to me.

You can only call it 4-3-3 when we hammer somebody by more than 3 goals.

Carra right back... instead of Arbeloa.
