      Liverpool VS Reading (Pre-match Thread)
      Mar 13, 2008 09:34:19 pm
Back to some serious Premiership business: 15th March 2008 at 15.00 hours GMT we get to play a crucial premiership match against Reading. I must say we need to win this match more than ever. The first encounter with reading this season was marked by referee's inconsistencies and also errors from the LFC. We lost 3 -1.

My starting eleven remains the same as always

      Reina

      Carragher Hyypia Shrktel Aurelio

      Pennant Gerrard Mascherano Babel

      Kuyt Torres

      SUBS: Crouch, Benanyun, Alonso Itanje

I really want a 3 - 0 win or more in this game. We also need to climb higher and higher on the table.

      Good idea.

Erm i think we should play

                                       Reina

      Arbeloa             Carragher  Skrtel        Aurelio

                              Mascherano Alonso

      Pennant                    Gerrard              Babel
                                      Torres

Can i ask why change the winning formation mate?

As they say, if it aint broke dont fix it.

      I think a 3-0 maybe 4-0.

True. If it ain't broke, don't try to fix it. Definately a 4-2-3-1. I was more particular about the personalities playing than the formation. Is Arbeloa okay to play now?

It's only Reading! A couple of changes won't hurt, anymore could! I'm not disrespecting Reading here but come on, if we can't change our formation without dropping points against Reading then something must be wrong?

      Reina
      Aurelio
      Skrtel
      Carra
      Arbeloa
      Mascherano
      Lucas
      Gerrard
      Babel
      Kuyt
      Torres

Just the one change then. Arbeloa in Hyypia out...

i can see riise coming in at left back for this game, reading will try and rough it up and aurelio could be a target. they have a seriously leaky defense though so i expect the goals to come, not that it'll be easy but i cant see them coming close to the result they got at the madejski. wouldnt be surprised if benayoun came in on the right also

You would imagine Everton will turn Fulham over so we need to keep our eye on the Premiership and not lose focus with all the excitement surrounding Europe.

Everton only have 4th place to play for now so they will be able to put all their energy in to that campaign.  We must not be distracted.  Victory over Reading is expected.

I would prefer to see Carragher back in the middle alongside Skrtel.  Apart from that an unchanged side, although possibly playing Babel on the right in Kuyt's position would be a decent change.

True Ra Ra but if you keep a team in the same formation they get used to it easier and begin to predict eachothers runs all the time.

I see you stuck with the same formation though it has been working wonders. We could drop it for the reading game but i think we'll keep the same.

Agree. I have pointed out in a couple of threads that in the two seasons we reached the final of the Champions League our league form seemed to suffer and we can't afford this to happen again. Although I think the squad is stronger than in those seasons we still have to focus and get the wins that are expected over the likes of Reading.

I see a couple of you have went for Pennant in the team but I would prefer to see Yossi start as although he offers a greater goal threat and more creativity than Jermaine.

To be fair last season it was only once we'd secured CL qualification that our performances dropped, and that was cos we put out half a reserve side. Still, I totally agree with the sentiment that we can't afford to take our eye of the ball.

There was an interview with carra not so long ago that he was talking about the ups and downs of the game and for me he was basically asking for a rest. He has started almost avery game recently and I think he deserves a rest. We have more than anough cover thanks to Skirty so I'd play li cisse's formation with hyypia in for carra.

Maybe a few changes but nothing dramatic.

                                   Reina

         Arbeloa      Skrtel     Carragher      Aurellio

                     Mascherano       Alonso

      Pennant                 Gerrard                  Babel

                                   Torres

Too easy! Only kidding, I think it will be tough if we get carried away with our Euro success. Need to buckle down now and get a move on for the 4th spot. No one player will be asking for a rest especially Jamie Carragher! I hope for a ruthless Liverpool who conitinue their form with no stupid mistakes. Heads down and move forward.

2-0 for me, those goals cant keep coming in the bagfull so im giving Reading a break here BUT 4-0 would also be decent ;)

      YNWA!

On the road to 2nd spot! (Sorry Don)

Did Carra not have a rest when we played M/Boro 3 weeks ago,we should be playing our strongest team in every game from now to the end of the season.Winning is infectious you only have to see the attitude of the players on the pitch, they are like us supporters and cannot get enough of winning. This is the Liverpool we know and love.

I agree with you Carra should not play right back,he is better in the middle,I actually prefer Arbeloa as right back or Finnan if he is fit.

I'm gonna go with the 4-2-3-1 that we've been doing so well with.

                              Reina

      Arbeloa        Carra      Skrtel        Riise

                    Masch          Alonso

                             Gerrard
      Yossi                                         Babel

                              Torres

      Gonna go for a 4-0.

Got a feeling Torres will bag a couple tomorrow. Their back four aren't the best around. Very leaky. As long as he gets the support as usual I think he'll notch up his tally again. My scorers are Torres (2), Stevie and Babel.

      SUBS: Crouch, Benanyun, Alonso Itanje

Maybe we could 5 have subs ;)

I think we should try a bit of Champions League style against Reading tomorrow.

      Reina

Carra   Skrtel   Hyypia  Aurellio (people say that Carra don't like playing RB, I disagree)

      Kuyt     Masch  Lucas    Babel

               Gerrard

                Torres

Subs Martin, Riise, Pennant, Yossi, Crouch

      Can't go wrong there.

Same team that won against Inter please boss. Maybe slotting Alonso in for Lucas.

Can't let our minds slip off the league since todays news of our next 'European' opponents. We owe Reading a good hiding, as last time it was clear we did have our minds on Europe.

Steve Coppell will be hoping for a clean sheet as the main priority, so we better see more than just Gerrad and Torres having a go at goal.
