We've scored 97 goals in all competitions this season.  Not bad!

Also the highest scoring Prem team in 2016 with 39 goals. Had just 17 in the first 3 months of the season.

And 22 different scorers in all comps too.

We play Burnley on the 20th August.

      We have never lost a League game on that date, with our record looking like;

      1949 - beat Sunderland 2-0.
      1955 - beat Forest 3-1.
      1960 - beat Leeds 2-0.
      1966 - beat Leciester 3-2.
      1968 - beat Stoke 2-1.
      1969 - beat Man City 2-0.
      1974 - drew with Wolves 0-0.
      1977 - drew with Middlesborough 1-1.
      1994 - beat Palace 6-1.
      2005 - beat Sunderland 1-0.
      2011 - beat Arsenal 2-0.

Our League form at Turf Moor isn't great however.

We've lost 18 of our 39 visits there in the League, drawing 9 and winning the other 12.

If we look back on our last ten visits there in the League though, it's more favourable. 5 wins (including the only two times we've played there in the Premier League), 3 draws and 2 defeats.

Daniel Sturridge hasn't scored two goals in a Premier League game since September last year. If he can break that duck tonight, he'll have scored as many Premier League goals for us as Ian Rush.

Our next League game is against Hull, who we, surprisingly, have a poor record against recently. Just one win in our last five meetings with the Tigers.

However, we do have some fortune on our side because whenever we've played Hull in September, we've always scored at least three against them, and won.

      7th September 1971 - 3-0
      14th September 1999 - 5-1
      21st September 1999 - 4-2
      26th September 2006 - 6-1

As for Derby in midweek, they've only scored twice against us this century and we've only failed to beat them once in the eight meetings since the year 2000, that being a one all draw at Anfield in 2001. The only League Cup meeting between the sides came back in 77, where Supersub David Fairclough came off the bench to net a brace in a two nil win at Anfield.

That 3-0 pasting on the opening day has left a sour taste IMO. One of the games I wont forget for a while.

Only bettered by the last day of the season 6-1 defeat to Stoke ...our worst result since 1962.

Liverpool have lost once in the past 19 league games (half a season).

The reds have achieved this 18 times in the past 40 years, although only 6 times in the past 25 seasons.

Next target would be to reach 21 games with one defeat. That's been done 12 times in 40 years but only 4 times in the past 25 seasons. Houllier (2002), Benitez (2008), Benitez (2008), Benitez (2009).

People often saying these days that we are beginning to "resemble a Rodgers team". They are 100% correct too.

After the Aussie Don Corleone's latest intervention the other day, I couldn't resist working it out. Jurgens average points gathered per league game played in his year and a bit is now almost identical to that of Rodgers in his three years and a bit.

I say "almost" as it's a tiny fraction worse, a tenth of a point or something ridiculous. I don't normally do stats, but that one surprised me I must admit. Particularly as it's now accepted by all and sundry what a disaster the previous manager was.

      Stats eh? Flippin eck.
