Xabi has been our best player so far in pre season and the games so far. I do not think he should be sold just so Gareth Barry can come in i dont even rate Barry there is no way that he should replace XABI when he came on yesterday the bame changed and we started to play properly

To be honest the way Xabi set up Torres yesterday with that 1st time volley/pass was sublime.
Man of the match with only 45 mins played, AND he nearly scored from his own half again!
I think he'll stay with us.

xabi alonso has been the model professional, considering all the speculation surrounding him and pressure on is position, he seems to be one of the few players that has actually come out of the blocks with some passion and something to proove. Xabi could play a very big part for our season and definitely worth keeping around

Fabregas would love Xabi at Arsenal

Cesc Fabregas wants Arsenal to lure Xabi Alonso to the Emirates from Liverpool as he revealed his desire to one day be captain of the club he describes as having 'something special'.

The Spain midfielder is currently ruled out with injury and while he has been on the sidelines the Gunners have been linked with Aston Villa's Gareth Barry as well as Fabregas' fellow Spaniard Alonso.

The 21-year-old said: 'I'd love it! What can I say? He is my friend and apart from that he is a great professional, a great passer of the ball, he works hard defensively, he's scoring goals now, he's experienced and he is only 26.

'For me he would be perfect.'

Fabregas joined the Gunners five years ago from Barcelona where he had been part of the youth set-up.

He believes he is 'privileged' to be with Arsenal and has no desire to follow the likes of Alexander Hleb and Mathieu Flamini out of the exit door.

Instead, Fabregas has pledged his loyalty to the club.

'Don't get me wrong, Alex Hleb and Mathieu Flamini are two of my best friends in football and I wish them all the best.

'I speak to them every week and I know how they feel - I am not going to tell you - but Arsenal is Arsenal.

'This club has something special that no others have. We have to take care of it.

'I have a lot of friends in Spain and Italy and when they speak about other clubs I know I am privileged to be where I am.

'I don't want to lose it. I want to win things for the club. I want to get experience here. I want to play for Arsenal.

'When you see football all around the world, you see very few teams who play the way that we play.

'I just enjoy it. I feel it is my home now.'

William Gallas is the current Gunners captain - a role which Fabregas would like to undertake one day.

'I would love it. I am happy with everything, my number four, playing for Arsenal in centre midfield and giving 100 per cent every, every game.

'But if the boss thinks in one or two years I am ready to be captain, I will take the armband.'

      Daily Mail

      Dream on Fabregas. Dream on.

I don't see it happening, there are too many factors against this transfer. I can't see us selling such a player to a title rival for a start, and I also have trouble seeing Wenger putting in an offer that would turn Rafa's head. I mean, what was his last bid? Something like £10 million wasn't it? What a waste of time - Rafa has made it clear he won't sell Alonso unless it's to touch the jackpot, perhaps an offer between £16-20 million.

Alonso has been trying his hardest in pre-season and these first matches. I have criticised his performance yesterday, but the frustration he was displaying seemed to come from a determination to control the game rather than a dissatisfaction with the club. Even if he had an off-day, he wanted to perform well for us, and I don't think it was because he was trying to impress any future "suitors".

I'm not sure that Alonso will end up at the Gunners.

Wenger wants a top midfield player.

Alonso and Rafa had a fall out, over masch, because Alonso is not getting the games.

Rafa has tryed hard to sell him.

      So I'm not sure.

There is no way we would sell him to assnal any way, 1 more week and this will all put to bed with the close of the transfer market Alonso will remain a red.

18 million for clubs abroad, 25 for those in England hoping to land him.

Wenger, you'll have something else to moan about this season when you lose out on Barry and Alonso.

This is a message to those either pro Barry and sell Alonso and also those who are pro Xabi and screw Barry, doesnt it show the skill of these 2 if the likes of Arsenal want BOTH? The chance to have both of them would be something and probably push us towards the title than no other player.

Then undoubtedly we would have the best midfield in the world, Stevie, Masch, Xabi and Barry with Lucas and Plessis devolping.
