I am the minority on this thread but I watched him from 15 to when he went to real and I would love to see him come home ,But only if he still has the red fire still burning
The only things going against  him are he stuck up is two fingers at the club ,and went for money? If he was money motivated he would stay at newcastle and take a pay cut. does that make sense , to much bow.

Why are people on Owens back so much, I admit that leaving due to wage demands is never a good way to go but he was a quality player for us.

At the end of last season he proved he can still score the goals when it mattered and if available at a reasonable price, it would be regraded as a good signing.

But why the arguement anyway, ITS NEVER HAPPENING ;D

Such a shame he left. I don't get angry when I remember this, I just feel disappointed things went that way. But signing him again would be a step back. No, thanks.

      what he said.

Can't help feeling a little smug about what happened to him after he left us.  If only he'd given it one more season...

I'd just like to point out that we are not linked to him. He's only coming back to Anfield to play against the reds.

I think he played his best football in a red shirt. But those days are gone now.

Owen will have to take a pay cut or will be sold this summer

      Quote
Michael Owen's advisers will re-open talks with Newcastle at the start of next week aimed at extending his current deal, but with the club insisting on the proviso that he takes a pay cut.

Owen's £110,000-a-week deal has 12 months left and there is growing concern at St James' Park that he will negotiate a move for nothing in January.

The 28-year-old's representatives have, surprisingly, been invited for only one round of talks with Newcastle officials.

They were told that Owen's new offer, in line with an across-the-board reduction in player salaries, would be around ?80,000-a-week.

To help offset the cut in pay, Owen will be offered potential bonuses to bring his new package closer to his current deal.

Owner Mike Ashley wants a huge reduction in the wage bill, which has six players on more than ?3million a year, and is keen that Owen leads the way by agreeing to take less.

If Owen turns down Newcastle's offer, he will be allowed to leave for around ?5m, with Manchester United monitoring the situation.

      Daily Mail

Fairly confident that Owen wouldn't take a £30 grand pay cut, but then if nobody else wants him - what choice does he have?

At £110,000 a week he is ridiculously overpaid.

We've defo seen the best of Michael....but if he became available at £5m, would you buy him??
I think he would be a snip at that sort of money, great insurance policy and would compliment Nando perfectly IMO?

Ive idolised Micheal up until he left us, I thought he optimised all that was great in football, but the fact of the matter is that he's just a greedy b***ard like all the rest of them!
Knowing how much we f***in loath and despise the Manc's surely he would consider joining them? would he?

I think maybe I'd consider it for £5m, I  mean he is past his best, but he can still score goals.
But I don't know if he'd be very good back up seeing as though he always gets injured!
