Family computer skivvies

I, like clearly many of you, know how to use computers.

I'm sure some of you also know what it feels like to be the 'family computer skivvy'.  The one that long lost Aunts and relations ring when somethings up with their computer.

Tonight I got in from work and one of the missus' cousins was around for about 3 hours while I fixed their virus/porn infested PC.  I had my tea at eleven and it's back to my real job tomorrow morning.

For anybody out there in the same boat as me - do you think we should form some sort of union.  My payment was 6 bottles of Grolsch.  I hardly think that compares with an IT technician's pay.

Anybody else out there feel the same?

I'm like that! Although it's usually neighbours! The whole street sees me as the street whizzkid, who can fix everything (including cars too) and I never get anything out of it other than a pat on the back and a 'I'll see you when the microwave packs in next week!'

All I get asked to do is to copy make back up copies of porn movies 

Whilst being able to do most things on the computer, I have the good fortune of having someone who knows even more than me in the family (my stepmum's brother) so I only ever really get called on to do these things if he's not about for some reason.

Only a few weeks ago I was trying to fix my uncles laptop due to a virus, then a few days later he brought a projector round for me to have a look at. Great isn't it.

Know what you mean JD, my sons in laws who appear less than Lord Lucan riding Shergar called me up because I work for the local councils IT section to see if I could fix their virus ravaged PC.
