I must try and see Heat, ayrton.  And been so long since I caught Withnail.

Must say that I am not a big Al Capacino fan (he was awesome in the 70s, Godfather era)

Al's earlier films were the best. Recently, scripts have been written for him in such a way that he has become to a certain point a stereotype of himself, if that makes any sense. The spontaneity and originality of his performances has burnt out because of that, but he's still a class act.

I agree, ayrton, Pacino sort of turned into a caricature of himself over the last 20 or so years.  All that hoo-haa stuff.  His best stuff IMHO is in the 70s and 80s.

Wow, great to see another who loves Stand By Me!  Good call.  I had forgotten all about that one.  I love that type of movie.  I must say I am sorta feeling isolated with most modern movies, and all the CGI, blue screens and computer enhanced movies.  I guess I am old fashioned.  I love stories and character based movies.  (tho I do love good action movies, with appropriate CGI work).

Die Hard is a classic action film, one of the best! I love the bit at the start, after the plane's landed, when bruce says something like "Son of a bi*ch, fists with your toes!". :D

      Another classic:

Great Die Hard line, ayrton!  I also loved where he's trying to evade the baddies, has nearly fell down a lift shaft; and is now crawling inside a metal ventilaition system, and he mimics his wife's invite down to that LA Christmas get together.  [huddled in an air vent, John McClaine  pulls out his lighter, flicks it on, and recalls his wife's invitation] "Come out to the coast, we'll get together, have a few laughs...”

Good call re All the President's Men

Here is another classic Hoffman movie:

I love horror movies, there's nothing better then being scared by a film. Most would never fit in the catagory all-time classic, though one exception is The Exorcist! I remember going to see it at the cinema for it's 25th anniversary and loving it! ;D And if we're talking about best film quotes, then "Your mother sucks cocks in Hell!" has to be up there with the best! :D

Another I like very much, but isn't a classic, is The Lost Boys! When I was a kid, I loved all those films where kids got in crazy situations and the adults wouldn't believe them, so they had to sort everything out themselves! :D A couple of others in this style were The Goonies and Fright Night!

Actually i remove the matrix as my favourite movie and replace it with:

      the shawshank redemption

Btw i just realised how hard it is to spell redemption, is that even right?

I urge people who haven't seen it to watch "Bubba Ho-Tep" - Film.

Basic premise is - An aging Elvis (Bruce Campbell of Evil Dead Fame) in an old folks home being helped by a black JFK (Ossie Davies) in a wheelchair to fight a 3000 year old egyptian mummy who sucks peoples souls out through their a***holes.
Now if that premise doesnt entice you to watch it i dont know what will.
