Who is this fella? I saw his goal, he's still young but think Nemeth and Pacheco got more natural talent.

I've only seen him play 45 minutes so I couldn't possibly comment on comparisons with some of our younger lads.

But he took the goal well I though, and players who aren't afraid of having a crack from outside the box are always okay in my book.

David N'gog is most famous due to the Football Manager games were he is one of the "wonderkids" in every FM game that i have played that he's in.

Seems rather good in the real world aswell ;)

      http://sport.setanta.com/en/Sport/News/Football/2008/07/28/Premier-League-Benitez-on-Ngog/

Rafa Benitez believes summer signing David Ngog will be ready to make an immediate impact for Liverpool.

The unheralded 19-year-old joined The Reds from Paris Saint Germain for £1.5 million last week and is viewed by many as one for the future.
However Benitez expects Ngog to be challenging for a first-team place this season.

Suck on that quote KK ::) ;)

10 years time a front 3 of Pacheco, Nemeth and N'gog all in their prime sounds good to me

I only saw 45 minutes of him as well and from what I saw he was quick, strong and had a powerful shot on him, Rafa has picked up another possible gem here. At the moment he's very much a rough diamond but under Rafa's tutelage and with great strikers like Fernando and Robbie to teach him the tricks of the trade, he really could be a very exciting signing for us. Well done Rafa and keep up the good work N'gog.

Took his goal well and looks a decent prospect. How many times have we been here before though? Signing young foriegn players with lots of "potential". I actually cant think of one that has significantly came to fruition off the top of my head in both houlier and rafa;s reigns. Nevertheless i still hope him success offcourse.

I'm with you Laz, we have signed numerous youth talent but where are they? Now I do not promote myself as being the definitive on the Liverpool Academy so there may be others that can perhaps enlighten the ignorant.( Or look for the Youth thread... or something?).

The most promising of the ones we have signed under rafa and GH are all players that are still at the club in my opinon.

      Nemeth
      N'Gog
      Pacheco
      Insua
      Anderson
      Hammill
      Mikel San Jose
      Hobbs

I think these can all succeed as great players, a few of them are close to the first team and will be there soon.

None of the above were signed by Houllier with all being signed by Rafa with the exception of Adam Hammill, a player who is a product of the youth setup. Also its quite easy to say "The most promising of the ones we have signed under rafa and GH are all players that are still at the club in my opinon." Fact is all of the Houllier's "building for the future" signings did not cut the mustard and at the time were bigged up just as much as the current flock of "future stars".

Examples being Anthony Le Tallac and Florent Sinama Pongolle. Two players who were expected to be great yet were at best medicore amongst countless of others.

Don't get me wrong. I do not want N'gog to fail but he like all the other young prospects we apparantly have at our disposal will have a very tough time breaking the mould. This is why i cant understand the local lads not getting a chance. These foriegners are no better at making the grade than the english lads. So why not give them a chance first and foremost and save money whilst at it ?

All this hype is unwanted, we'll just be slating Rafa and David at the end if he doesnt cut the mustard. Give him time, made a decent start but has years to prove himself. Lets give him that chance and he he does make it.

I agree the English lads should have more of a look in too, i think the local boys also play with a lot more heart for the club EG Stevie G and Carra they give everything too the club and they end up becoming more of an asset at the end of the day than the outside youngsters coming in.

I think once Stevie retires, we will be praying for another Scouse or English lad take up his role. I think Guthrie could have done that to some extent, of course no one in the near future will be able to emulate what Stevie has done with his last minute winners etc etc but Guthrie could have been boss in 1 or 2 seasons. Too bad hecame as soon as he did.

I think Spearing could do it too, he has to stay and get regular shots in the first team. Plessis and Lucas will grow to be excellent players too.

Our future is looking very bright but i agree, we need English or even better Scouse/local kids to come up through the ranks to keep that 'heart' in the club.

Yeah for sure the local lads need to be given a chance and that is not going to happen at the rate that the foreign exports are coming into the reserves, even if they are good and look good for the future it just means that the locals get less chance to break into the team.
