      SOS meeting with Rick Parry

      Meeting with Rick Parry
      Wed 13 Aug 2008

On Monday evening, 10 representatives of the Spirit Of Shankly (SOS) Management Committee, accepted a request from Liverpool FC Chief Executive, Rick Parry, to attend a meeting. SOS took the opportunity to explain to Mr Parry why the Union had been formed, and expressed deep concern, on behalf of its members, about the present ownership situation at the club. Mr Parry accepted and appreciated that SOS members were unhappy.

The Union also expressed concern regarding some of the recently implemented 'ticket allocation' initiatives which directly affect fans such as the 'Belong' membership scheme, the recently announced Thomas Cook graded ticket packages for Liverpool FC home games, and the issue of the new ground.  Mr Parry requested that any of these concerns be raised formally in writing detailing any specific issues.

Due to time constraints not all issues of concern were covered. As a result, a follow up meeting has been suggested in approximately six weeks time, where we hope to be able to raise further concerns and discuss these in more detail. A more in depth report of the first and any subsequent meetings will be communicated to all members as soon as possible.

Our position on the ownership of Liverpool Football Club has not changed and as the current situation sees the club moving further away from its longheld traditions, the Liverpool Supporters' Union is requesting that fans are not forgotten in the movement towards commercial competitiveness. We believe it is possible to compete in the commercial sense whilst still maintaining the traditions many fans hold dear. We want to see improved consultation with fans and we hope and believe a workable situation can be reached.

Thanks kingjari for the update, pity Rick the Pr*ck, couldn't give you more time, bloody typical.

Next time tie him to a chair and don't let him go until he gives you all the answers we need  ;) :D :D

From this I gather it was Rick Parry who made the suggestion to have a meeting, so fair play to him.

Shame he probably won't be there in six weeks time for the return meeting.

Unfortunately I don't think SOS will get anywhere simply talking to the monkey.  More action against the organ-grinders.

To be honest I thought we'd be swerved by the club heirarchy, and I'm surprised he sought out SOS for a meeting.
