      Carra backs Reds Families scheme

LIVERPOOL star Jamie Carragher went back to school to support rock-solid families.

The Bootle-born defender joined children from Hope Valley primary in Walton Breck Road, in their classroom yesterday.

He was there to back Liverpool FC’s Tactics 4 Families scheme, which aims to support family relationships in the Anfield and Breckfield areas.

It is hoped the five-week programme, which encourages a positive and practical approach to maintaining strong households, will be rolled out to schools across Merseyside.

Father-of-two Jamie said: “I really enjoyed it - we had a good laugh.

“Families are a major part of life and everyone has their own private life away from school.

“I think Tactics 4 Families is a very good idea. I have two children of my own so I know how important this is.”

Mark Chester, the club’s family officer, said: “Liverpool have helped develop projects to encourage and support strong family relationships.

“Since February, we have worked with year five and six pupils to deliver the seven key messages from Tactics 4 Families.

“The programme consists of three classroom lessons, one sports hall lesson and one session for the children and their parents or carers.

“The sessions look at football teams and family teams to teach children families are made up of very different people who all play their own part in contributing to family life.”

Good to see he is doing something worthwhile on international week.

      Unlike Gerrard.
