If Yossi isn't fit enough to play I have a feeling Rafa might opt for Aurelio (if fit) to play on the left side than the likes of Insua or El Zhar.

Im just looking for a change from the Liege game and back to the way we know we can play, a settled team passing the ball around keeping posession well and taking our chances when we get them. I expect to see us not resorting to the long ball tactics and to see us keeping the ball moving and creating options for the player on the ball.

Im going to go for a 3-0 win, Torres, Keane and Gerrard.

I for one dont give a fck who starts tommorrow this is not a jolly up, this is the start of the prem who ever RAFA picks should go out there and sweat blood for us tommorrow no excuses no time for that now ,and if its one nil or five nil as long as its our way to get us going, i will be happy, come on you reds the time is now. YNWA.

Amen to that brother! I'm hopeful that will be the outcome after the players knowing how poor they were on Wednesday.

Still a tricky game this though. Roy Keane will have his players in our faces all through the game but our quality should show us through that. We just have to make sure we put the graft in and try create some good chances.

As lil cisse says, non of this long ball nonesense.

Have been reading Lawrenson's prediction's on BBC he gave us a 1-1 draw

       Sunderland v Liverpool
      (Kick-off 1730 BST)

Liverpool looked a couple of yards short against Standard Liege in the Champions League, but Steven Gerrard should be back and the start of the Premier League always brings the extra edge.

But Roy Keane's side will be up for this. It is interesting that Roy has gone from signing players who played in the Championship to bringing in people who have got hundreds of top-flight games behind them.

This makes such a difference and I think they will start the season by getting a point

I beleive this will be a tough game but i don't think it's going to be a draw. We are going to be fighting till the end but we will come out with a win.

The first match of the season is usually a tough one regardless of who we play.

I think Kendwine Jones is injured, so sunderland wont score, but will we? I bloody hope the service is better so we can get a chance at least

Firstly I think some people are over reacting to an uncharacteristically bad performance on Wednesday by saying up to 7 or 8 lads should be dropped

As for tomorrow well I expect a tough enough game out of Sunderland and so Id set up slightly different to what we normally do. Id go 4 3 1 2 as I dont see any point in playing wide as we dont have the players, I wouldnt risk El Zahr tomorrow, so my 11 would be

                                                         REINA
      CARRA                      SAMI                    AGGER          DOSSENA

                                      STEVIE         XABI   SPEARING

                                                      YOSSI

                                   NANDO         KEANE

The 3 lads in midfield will give us plenty of control and energy while I trule believe Yossi could be most dangerous in a free role and likewise Keane at his best as an out and out striker. My formation would depend on the 2 full backs pushing on which Dossena can do and I believe Carra would be able to attack well once hes told thats his job.

Based on my team selections last season compared to Rafas Im pretty sure that will be the last 11 we'll se tomorrow!!  :D

I think this is going to be scrappy and not very pretty.I'm going for a 1-0 win, Agger.

This will be no doubt a tough, tight opening encounter, wouldn't it be good if we come out the blocks firing on all cylinders and sent a message to the urinals and chavs that we really mean business..

15 hours, 17 mins to go  ;)...getting excited now.

C'mon boys, let's put Wednesdays game behind us and get cracking right from the off.

I think we'll win, I'm just worried that away from home, Sunderlands new players, Diouf, Chimbonda, Malbranque and Tainio or whatever his name is will play the games of their lives and be out to impress Roy Keane and the fans, as much as possible.

It's not going to be a walk in the park but I still think we'll get the 3 points and get off to a good league start. Torres double for me. GO YOU REDS.

Here's another possibility, though I do think a cash prize should be given to anyone who correctly picks the same starting XI and formation as Rafa! ;)

                              Reina
      Arbeloa       Carra  Agger      Dossena
                     Alonso     Spearing
      Gerrard           Keane                  Ngog
                             Torres

I read somewhere that Pascal Chimbonda was injured.

      If it makes any difference.

El Hadji Diouf to get sent off?

After your last superb vision, I think I may have to reconsider my prediction, Reepicheep!  ;) Although I'll kick myself if I change it and we win 2-0.
