I don't think I'll ever see an Olympics again where the support has been like it has at London 2012. From the rowing lake at Eton Dorney, to the velodrome and then to the Olympic Stadium itself. It has been incredible!

The crowds on the roadside of both road races, TT's, women's marathon and the walks, and in Hyde Park for the triathlons and opening water swimming and Greenwich have been enormous too.  Wasn't a bad turnout at Hadleigh Farm earlier today either.  And the sailing at Weymouth, I've watched a fair bit of the races and they're not exactly spectator friendly!  Too many to mention really, apart from the empty seats fiasco of the earlier days, most venues have looked packed out.

Apart from one or two days we have been so lucky with the weather, although the crowds were out in force then as well!

And I'm looking forward to what has to be one of the loudest venues, the Excel tonight when Luke Campbell and John Joe Nevin fight for the gold and silver medals!

While I'm here, commiserations to the GB men's hockey team who have just lost the bronze medal match to the Aussies.

I think the support has been then main reason for the feel good factor.they have cheered every athlete but they have also got behind all the others who have given their best.
In Atlanta I think we had just 1 medal now 16 years later we are closing in on our 60th thats just crazy.
What a pity the swimmers never joined in the party.

GB won 1 gold, 8 silvers and 6 bronzes to finish 36th in the table.

Lottery funding has worked really well for our athletes.

It's made a huge difference to so many of our athletes!

Watching the men's modern pentathlon finale at the moment, this is a really mad competition!  Fencing, swimming, show-jumping and combined shooting and running (3 x 5 targets to hit interspersed with 3 x 1,000m cross country runs)!  It takes all day so the athletes must be so tired at this point.  The Czech athlete wins, China get second and Hungary get bronze!  Great action!

Drama in the aquatics centre, Tom Daley asking for a re-dive after he was put off by the number of camera flashes in the audience.  And it's granted.  Good luck Tom!

Holy sh*t, the standings going into the last dive are:

      1  Tom Daley  466.20
      2  David Boudia 466.05
      3  Qiu Bo  466.05
      4  Lin Yue  437.05

A gap between the first three and fourth place but how close are the top three, 0.15 points separating them!  I'm going to go POP soon!

      Don't hold your breathe folks:

      2144:
       DIVING
Significantly, Tom Daley's final dive has a difficulty of 3.3 while Qiu Bo and David Boudia both have a 3.6 in the tank.

If all three land their dives perfectly, then that will see Daley end up in bronze place. But anything could happen yet.

Come on Tom, nail your one!

      Well in Tom!

Absolutely delighted for him. For someone so young and performing in front of your home crowd he came and he delivered. That is how to handle pressure! And I'm sure he's only just begun.

      Well done Tom Daley.

What a pity that he didn't have a more difficult dive to finish with, so that he could have got the gold.

The target was 4th place for these Olympics and to match or surpass Beijing. I don't think anyone could have predicted quite how incredible it'd turn out to be for Great Britain. I am so proud to be British. For some waving the British flag apparently meant you were either a nationalist or a royalist. Not any more. It's so much more than. I can barely believe it's almost over!

      It's gone so quickly.  :(

Definitely not any more. I'm neither a nationalist nor a royalist and I feel proud.

      Wow  :o

No idea what that totals but this is how we currently stand:

      Rank   Country            Total
      1    United States   43   29   29   101
      2    China   38   27   22   87
      3    Great Britain & N. Ireland (selected)   28   15   19   62

62 medals so far and a couple more guaranteed tomorrow!  What a fantastic effort by all our Olympians!

Tbh I thought we would struggle to hit the heights we reached in Beijing but we have smashed the target set after those games!  So many brilliant performances, and so many youngsters that came close to medaling as well!
