Anybody still call it the Kemlyn Road stand?

There'll be a few on here who don't even know the Kemlyn Road stand, well it's what the Centenary stand is now, just re-named back in 92.

Anyway, does anyone on here still call it Kemlyn Road? Only reason I ask is because me dad still does and I do sometimes, even though the name was changed when I was one. It's just the way I grew up with it from me dad and was wondering if it's still the common name for the stand amongst most fans.

Always referred to as the Kemmie, but even now still find myself saying "you in the kemlyn" when talking to someone sitting in the upper.

Remember the old roof  and floodlights as well. do reckon there was any truth in the rumours that during the European ban, the club used dimmer floodlights, as in not as bright as ones used now.

Depends who i'm with, if i'm with a mate then ill call it the Kemlyn. If it's an out of towner i'm with, i say the Centenary.

Me Grandad used to have his season ticket in the Kemlyn.

Always call it the 'Kemlyn Road Stand', always will as well, just like I'll call the new stadium (when if gets built  :) Anfield 

I think i have only ever called it the Kemlyn Road stand a few times, it was re-named a year after i was born so i did'nt know about it being re-named until i was about 7 or 8 therefore i automatically think of it as the Centenary stand

Its the Kemlyn Road for me, and always has been. Its where my seat is and also the first ever place I sat way back in 1983, Now I feel old!

I feel older as I first stood in the boys pen when it was in Kemlyn Road, and then the lousy sods moved the pen to the back of the kop.

Definately still the Kemlyn for me.

It sounds so much better than lower Centenary.

from those who've said they still refer to it as Kemlyn, it seems like it's an age thing and possibly even a scouse thing and that the majority of newer fans shall we say refer to it as the Centenary.

Like I said in the origional post, I refer to as Kemlyn Road a fair bit because of me dad. He's in his 40s now, born an bred scouse, so again I just think it's people who are of that age and for the younger fans like me, it's how they've been brought up.

Always be the Kemlyn for me. As said earlier, probably an age thing. You stick with the things you grew up with if they are dear to you. All the old memories and that. When it was rebuilt/refurbished and renamed, I could never understand why. It didn't achieve anything, ( the name that is ) so will never change for me. Imagine the uproar if they renamed the kop after they rebuilt it. 'The walton breck end' mabey. Just wouldn't stick would it ?

I don't have fond memories of the Kemlyn Road Stand.  Those bl**dy wooden seats with my knees jammed up against the one in front.  Damn uncomfortable.

Always tried to stand in the Kop back then.

The lower centenary is much better than the Kemlyn Road ever was.  Bit of rose tinted nostalgia here I think.

 

Absolutely Oldred. I only went in the Kemmy once, I was always on the kop when you just qued up at the turnstile. Still be the Kemlyn road stand though.
