I still can't believe Young doesn't get a call up. Beckham hasn't even been that good in the MLS in the past few months (I think he has is attention on other things like being a celebrity). He is the skipper of the worst side in the league. I dunno who does Capello's scouting of Beckham.

I would have thought either Young or Agbonlahor would have been called up.

Agree.  England's second XI should beat these no problem.

Squad really isn't important.  I'd pay more attention to it when we've got Croatia again.

My thoughts are Gerrard scores then gets subbed for tactical reasons.

Disappointed not to see Owen in the squad, I'm desperate to see him break Bobby Charlton's goalscoring record. On a plus good to see Crouch back in the side.

Lets give these a good kicking, five or six goals against both.

I understand if Young or Agbonlahor ain't called up as they are still young.
Owen has scored in most of Newcastle's games these season and i have a feeling Capello just doesn't like him ;D.

And i would have a Gerrard Barry midfield instead of Lampard. Kinda overrated for me and there was an article about him saying He and gerrard should be blamed for england not in Euro.
No way man, he can't compare himself to stevie ;D

Lampard is at his peak right now, and is in very good form - take nothing away from him.

However, there is no dropping Gerrard from the England squad; it's impossible and unthinkable. There should be a 4-3-3 formation, with Gerrard as a CAM, Barry on the left and Lampard on the right.

Abonglahor scored last night didn't he? Sooner or later he's going to have to be picked to play.

As for Owen being left out, it's clear that Capello thinks at this moment in time, Defoe is better. And the goals he's scored says it too.

Yeah both Defoe & Torres top the premiership top scorers with 5 each.

First half I thought nothing of. It simply reminded me of Liverpool when we were getting results with unconvincing performances. The second half was much better, especially from 58 mins onwards.

I know it's Ashley Cole but it was a F***ing disgrace booing him. You should support a player if he's made a mistake. I suppose thats what separates us from England fans.

Expect nothing less from those who go to support England to be honest.

You would have thought any Spurs fans in the crowd would have been pleased to support a winning team as well.

Anyway... now that shites out the way.

I agree, I was raging upon hearing those boos. He plays for our country, and I'm a very firm believer of supporting anybody who plays for our country. I cheered when Rooney scored, and even Rio. These guys deserve our support outside of the EPL. It's different when they play for their teams though ;) ;)

And now I'm currently watching our very own Andrea Dossena play for Italia! What a joyful day ;)

I watch a bit of the game and I have to agree England fans were a joke, not just for booing Ashley Cole because hey all players make blunders you just have to move on but even booing at half-time. I thought it was a typical Capello performance, maybe not the greatest game on the eye but the result was good and also good to run up the score a bit because it could come down to +/-. Also good news for England that the other result Ukraine vs Croatia was a draw.

I will be interested to see what team Capello sticks out in Belarus which is a tough place to play (got result vs Holland/Germany there).

Frankly, the debate over whether Gerrard and Frank Lampard can play together has still not been answered, though on this evidence it is the Chelsea man who is in far better form should Capello decide he has to choose between them. BBC Sport

F**k off, Beeb. You obviously didn't see Gerrard sprinting back to defend when no one else would. Biased as always, just piss off.

Also been checking the Mirror website out, it appears they're not biased with player ratings:

      STEVEN GERRARD 6
Dynamic and forceful. He was strong in attack and made several crucial blocks whenever the Kazaks threatened. This was more like the Gerrard of Liverpool in the white of England.

They say Gerrard and Lampard can't play together, but I think they both did well yesterday. They both delivered good free-kicks, the difference being nobody was able to get on to the end of Stevies (which curled like nothing I've seen ;)).
