Just grabbing at straws really...

My boyfriend has supported Liverpool all his life but has never been able to go to the city, the grounds, see a game in person because of the cost and travel involved.

We're planning a trip up there to see the grounds etc this side of Christmas, but I would dearly love to get tickets for a match to surprise him with. I'm hoping to get through to the ticket line next week and get us a pair for this match but obviously so is everyone else in the country, so I'm wondering if there's any tactics for getting them?
I read in another thread that getting a membership and buying online is best, but do they always have tickets available online?
Or if anyone might have some spares...

There probably will be an online sale for this one. There was one for the Pompey game when it went on sale today. Hard to get them online though, with all the crashing and what not.

I got them suprisingly quick today, get on at 8.30 you should be ok! got through on the phone too its not always hard however this is the first time ive got it so quick!!

Thanks for the replies! I got two for the Portsmouth match on the 29th which he'd prefer to see anyway. They were sold out but some kept becoming available throughout the day in all the areas so I got them. It timed out several times though, and has taken me all day to get them...

Yeas as i say the best bet is usually doing it first thing, decent seats become available for members too but theres not always a guarantee of that! Hope you enjoy the game, anfield is definatley an experience if you have never been

Im going to try and get tickets for this game when they go on sale on thursday. I am mega confused about the new membership/old fancard kerfuffle!Ive tried getting tickets before last april and the website kept crashing, and no-one answered the phone for 4 HOURS. Thats 4 HOURS! And i was ringing every 30 seconds! Now i understand a new system is in place. Do i need to sign up to buy tickets using the online sale, and will anyone answer my phone call? I love Liverpool FC, but the ticket sales are a shambles! HELP!

If you have a fancard you can still use the online sale, your guess is as good as mine if someone answers the phone or not.

So when trying to get tickets using the online sale, do you just input the number at the bottom right hand corner of the fancard (7 Digits) and choose where you want seats? Last time i tried it just crashed about a million times so i gave up

its the 8 digit number below your name on the bottom left of the card

Have a look it is working for the Madrid game now so you can go through the ticket process but be unable to purchase at the end

I dont know what my password is, so i input my card number into the 'email me my password' option, and it just says 'number not recognised'. WELL THATS THE NUMBER ON MY CARD! I then tried to call the 'help' desk, and got cut off twice 

This is stressing me out, ive got to get it all sorted before tickets go on sale on thursday, and even then, i probably wont get any! Final question, can i buy 4 tickets with one fancard using the online sale?

hi all!! 1st post. Im from Singapore and a life long super LFC fan! I will be visiting UK and definitely Liverpool and my wife's colleague is trying to submit the request by post so im crossing my fingers here.

Just a quick question, I heard there are ticket touters outside the stadium. Whats the rate of their tickets?

Anyway, really hope I can visit 1 game. I will be extremely glad that I have visited Anfield even if I really cant get to watch the game.

edit: opps, just read that online is this thursday. Anyway, is the online sales only available for liverpool fan card holders? Can a non-fancard holder purchase it by calling?

Hey there, I'd recommend you don't use touts. It's tempting I know, but it just encourages them to do business like that, and buy tickets so other people can't, making a profit. You never know, the next time you try to get a ticket it could be you losing out because some touts bought so many.

I think you need a club membership to use the online service, so it might be better if you used the phonelines. Although that might cost a little too much from Singapore .

Fancards are no longer issued, so you don't need one to buy tickets, you can purchase them without one now.
