      Snooker
      Oct 20, 2008 05:40:22 pm
First off I'm home after a week of being north of the border in Glasgow watching the Grand Prix.

Me mam and dad managed to get me tickets for every session of every day of the event. Me dad also said he saw me on the telly in me Liverpool top in the final. Best match I saw was Ronnie v Trump - really entertaining. Worst match has to be Murphy v Gunnell in the opening round because Shaun "The magician" was sh*te and Gunnell took a week to break, never mind any other shot. Far too slow.

Good to see Higgins come out on top in the final though, a local lad winning it. First time he's ever won in Soctland an all. Even the Rangers fans were chuffed with him, despite him being a life long Bhoy. Cracking final, looked like Day was down and out but fought back well but it wasn't good enough as Higgins went on to wrap it up.

Can't wait for the next tournament now.

Watched the final last night. Knew Higgins would win it, but it was a good fight back from Day.

See Ebdon was up to his usual tricks of distraction through frustration.

Was starting to think you were dead.

What kind of nickname is 'The Magician' for a snooker player. Hardly Hurricane or Whirlwind is it.

No, it wasn't when he potted the brown mate. Although, why didn't he ask the ref like he usually does? Quite odd. No fault of his own that though.

It was when he threw himself on the floor!  :D

:D Why do they call it the Snooker Grand Prix? It's the slowest sport in the world (after golf and professional gardening! :D)

I love snooker though, glad you enjoyed the tourament DLS. I prefer playing it but there's always something enchanting about watching it on the telly, or live. It's like a live Lava Lamp! :D

Marco Fu against Shaun Murphy in tomorrow's final.

Fu has the more challenging semi final against Carter because Maguire just didn't turn up for most of his match with Murphy. I don't really mind who wins because I like both players and neither has a trophy cabinet bulging at the seams. Hopefully it'll be a good final and both will bring their A games.

Fu was 6-3 down and came back to 6-6, incredible play.

Currently 9-8 to Fu, but Murphy at the table now with the reds relatively nicely split. Be good to see it go to the final frame, both players deserve it.

EDIT: It's gone to the final frame. I'm gonna go for Murphy to win it, I think winning the 18th frame will give him the confidence to go on and win the title. Hopefully it'll be a great frame.

Both players missing chances in the final frame, doesn't seem either player wants to win. I doubt Fu will win at this visit, too many safe reds and the black tied up. As I type he plays a safety shot.

'kin 'ell the spider, haven't seen that all tournament. Very rarely used nowadays.

Fu in all kinds of trouble because of the great snooker. He's just made a great escape though.

And now the yellow goes safe. And another red. And now the cue ball ends up in the middle pocket.

With all these balls safe, three reds, black and yellow, it's difficult for Fu to clear up.

How hasn't the black fell into the bottom pocket? He's having all the luck in the last few minutes.
