Liverpool reported to Premier League regarding Robbie Keane
      Jul 18, 2008 08:08:35 pm
For the tapping up of Robbie Keane, Levy is having a laugh isnt he?

Liverpool and Manchester United have been reported to the Premier League by Tottenham Hotspur following their respective interest in Robbie Keane and Dimitar Berbatov.

Spurs are unhappy with the conduct of their top-flight rivals following speculation linking Keane with a move to Anfield, and Berbatov with a switch to Old Trafford.

Reds boss Rafa Benitez has expressed his interest in Keane, while United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has spoken of his optimism of concluding a deal for Berbatov.

However, Spurs have criticised the two clubs, with chairman Daniel Levy feeling they have to take the matter up with the Premier League.

"Today's public comments by Manchester United's manager, announcing that he has made an offer for Dimitar and is confident that the deal will go through with time working in their favour, is a blatant example of sheer arrogance and interference with one of our players," said Levy in a statement on the club's official website.

"It is also probably one of the worst offences by any manager in the Premier League to date and is unbelievably hypocritical given his recent comments in respect of Cristiano Ronaldo and Real Madrid.

"This comes after a series of events, dating back to last summer, which have shown Manchester United to be in breach of Premier League (PL) rules. As a result, we have today made an official complaint to the PL about the conduct of Manchester United.

"Benitez made similar comments in respect of Robbie recently and we made an official complaint to the PL about the conduct of Liverpool earlier this week.

"The behaviour of both clubs has been disgraceful. We told both clubs very early on that we had no interest in selling Robbie or Dimitar, respectively, and that they should refrain from pursuing the player. Both clubs arrogantly chose to ignore this request and we now have evidence that both clubs have systematically been working to prise the players away from us, outside of PL rules of conduct.

      Negative influence
"Our subsequent position has been severely compromised by both clubs making their intentions widely known and indeed making contact with the players and their agents, without the club's permission.

"I have absolutely no wish to sell either player and to date we have not accepted any offer for either. However, when a player's head is turned and their commitment is absent, particularly when they occupy key positions such as that of striker, they become a negative influence in a team dressing room in which they were once a positive addition and influence.

"This is the situation we now have on our hands, with both Dimitar and Robbie having made it clear that they wish to leave for Manchester Utd and Liverpool respectively.

"Irrespective of the outcome and futures of Robbie and Dimitar, we are continuing to seek to bring in quality, talented players for the future, who want to play in a Spurs shirt."

Well at the end of the day Keane will be a good signing for us with Torres both with alot of pace and can score goals, thats what we have been missing 2 strikers who can be prolific and be consistant a word that has let us down alot in past seasons!
I still also think Rafa will be wheeling and dealing alot more before the end of the season i do think though we will sign Gareth Barry but not entirely sure about David Silva

First of all, I couldn't care less if the mancs have been reported - who cares.

As for us, it seems like someone at Spurs is flapping because they know Keane - one of their very best players, will be gone from that club in a legit manner.

Using their, 'Big 4 are taking our players' line is getting boring. What do they want? A revolt by all other clubs not to sell to us?

TBH and as unbiased as possible, Rafa said Keane is on his list, Fergie said he is confident of buying him. Fergie is unsettling Berba but Rafa just answered a media question.

How else are we supposed to sign players wait untilthey are on the transfer list or out of contract,i Think Levy needs to accept Berbatov and Keane want to move to the next level and play Champions League football, they wont get that at Spurs.

I think I said it months ago on another thread that the middle range clubs will want to grow too and they're gonna start fighting to be a major force to be reckoned with. MON/A. Villa were totally pissed by our interest in Barry, and now Tottenham is spitting fire over Keane. Its really normal for stuff like this to happen.

Bottomline, Keane & Barry will be at Anfield.

This is gibberish... total garbage. Nothing said about Chelsea's comments regarding Torres, which we're splattered all over the back pages twice earlier in the year then?

It's extremely annoying when another club starts buttering up one of your best players, but if he was happy where he was then there'd be no threat anyway - just like the Torres example. I think what clubs are getting pissed off about is that their best players don't want to stay, but that isn't our problem. Keeping your players sweet is part of running a successful club, it's not all about how much they're paid. At least we can see that our boys on the whole are comfortable where they are, long may it continue!  ;D

This is a total farce and waste of everyone’s time. For in this example Rafa/LFC have openly said that they would be interested in signing Robbie Keane, so what! It is after all “Transfer Season” the time of the year when transfers take place, not mid-season when transfers are closed, but a time when they are allowed to happen. We are not aware of any “Pursuit” or “Hounding” of the player, just an interest in signing him. Rafa has not said the “He is confident that Keane will be playing for Liverpool come the start of the season”, unlike Ferguson has done with Berbatov, so why have we been drawn in to the total waste of time.
It would seem to me that the only reason we have been drawn in to the farce is the fact that the Scum are at their old games, alas Hargreaves etal, in the rampant pursuit of another teams players. Berbatov has been “linked” to the scum for some time via the Red tops and Sky, and I guess Spurs have had enough of them, (as we all have) and their double standards, and unfortunately we have been dragged in to this debacle by association of the timings of potential transfers.
I hope the FA act quickly to nip this in the bud without delay, and of course clear us of all wrong doings, (and Fine Spurs for P!$$ing around), but I doubt it as they will all be sunning their fat arses.
Unfortunately  Keane has not put a transfer request in, (unlike Barry), so read in to that what you want.
Reading the press’s reports it seems that the scum are the major perpetrators of any wrong doing, but on the BBC’s news service, it is Liverpool who are listed first, and the Scum second. Shysters.

This is all ridiculous and very childish.

Tottenham should take it as a compliment that such a big club is intersted in one of their players.

Exactly what i said before. Totally agree. Just adding our name to their hit list in an attempt to gain revenge over another top 4 club.

F***ing deal with it! We have the money to get them, they want the best possible footy and if they know a big 4 club is chasing then they have every right to leave and prove themselves in the best club competition in the world. But no, its all money to these dickheads and have no feelings at all for their players and their dreams.
