Poulsen and lucas is not a good partnership especially at anfield when we need more creativity in the team... Had Aquilani been in the team we could have seen 3 or 4 goals with some nice footy...

Worried that we never got a second.

Not great to be honest, a bit disjointed. Didn't think the partnership of Lucas and Pouslen worked. Torres still looks off the pace.

what is the story with Aqua? Surely he must have a niggle? Can't be selling one of our most creative mids???

Of course i know he can't take the sitters but we should taking the game to them, we have the talent but we haven't really attacked to our best. I'm just worried going to Turkey with a 1-0 it's a risky score to take to Turkey who have intimidating fans and the players will be well up for it.

One goal disallowed, one penalty missed.

I've never found it as hard to tweet a match through as I did tonight.

My one issue is why Aquilani wasn't being played over one of Lucas or Poulsen? It became apparent to us we had two sitting midfielders and i just felt Aquilani would of switched ball quicker and swifter to allow us to create more chances.

He wasnt even on the bench, for one thing. Probably spared for whatever reason.

Disappointing, especially the 1st half. 2nd half we should have pumped in at least 2 more and put this tie to bed.
But when do we ever do things easily? 2nd leg is gonna be tougher , we got some work to do for sure.

I think aquilani has been given a raw deal,the lad is a quality midfielder and should have been in the starting 11.

Defo think Aquilani would have given us more tonight in midfield tonight. Don't think Poulsen would be a good partnership with either Lucas or Masch.

It will be a difficult trip to Turkey. Poor first half but we did well on the second half but we should have scored a few more. Poulsen's goal should have been allowed. Nothing wrong there. Could have been an offside but referee saw it as a foul. Bad call. Cole's penalty was poor and easy for keeper to save.

Disappointed they didn't keep up the level of intesity from the first 10 minutes in teh second half for the rest of the match. Referee was out of his depth I felt.

And I know it's a bit of a cliche with a lot of us but without fail Lucas put in another pointless crap performance. What's the point in playing if you're just going to pass back to the defenders and offer nothing in his role as the holding midfielder in trying to re gain the ball back? Poulsen had a better second half and was unlucky not to get a perfectly legal goal but still looked rusty in judgement.

Not an easy away trip but hopefully with Gerrard, Torres, Agger and Mascherano (if he's still with us!) starting it may actually be a better performance.

They were better than i thought they would be!

As was Poulsen- Keeper making a meal out of nothing!
As for Cole, There are not too many players who could get a red card in their first game, miss a penalty in thier second- and still be loved!

Thought Sotis and Carra had a good game tonight,Poulsen was better in the second half but dissapointed in Lucas's performance,decent goal disallowed for some reason ,we have to play better than this though and hyave a creative person in midfield like Aquilani .

Lucas needs to grow a pair of balls or move on. Sick to F**k of him and his sideways passing. He is actually good enough to do it, but he has zero confidence in himself. He is a quivering wreck, fair play he won the penalty, but thats more the fault of their defender.
