Fernando Torres starts for Liverpool in the Merseyside derby clash with Everton at Goodison Park this afternoon - listen live online from 1.25pm.

As expected, the Spaniard has shrugged off the adductor injury he sustained against Blackpool last time out to take his place in Roy Hodgson's starting XI.

Meanwhile, Paul Konchesky returns in defence and Lucas Leiva starts in midfield.

Liverpool: Reina, Carragher, Kyrgiakos, Skrtel, Konchesky, Maxi, Merieles, Lucas, Cole, Gerrard, Torres. Subs: Jones, Aurelio, Jovanovic, Babel, Ngog, Spearing, Kelly.

What i expected, minus Johnson being left out but to be fair Carragher is a better right back than him.

Kyrgiakos has had a few decent games of late, where he's been the only player who's given in a good game so glad to see him playing too. I have confidence in him at centre back today.

And i like that Gerard is playing in the centre with Meireles playing behind Torres. If that's the case. It looks like that from the line up ^

Not disappointed, but Meireles was brilliant playing deeper for Portugal. And Gerrard has played his best with Torres.

Makes sense i thought.

Must say I like the Lucas-Meireles defensive midfield pairing, although I'm still confused as to why Cole is being played on the wing by Hodgson.

The rumor is that Poulsen is being given leave for bereavement. While I think him not playing is a plus, must say that I feel sorry for him and wish him the best.

Must admit , id rather have had Kelly at right back and Carra in the middle , but apart from that cant complain.

I'm going to be following the match on here lads and lassies, unfortunately I can't watch it.

But the line up looks solid, a lot of players I want to see play together (in suitable positions), looks very attacking!

Meireles is in the defensive midfield with Lucas, the first time he's been played in that position by Hodgson since the Steaua Bucureşti match in the Europa League. I'm very encouraged by this.

In derby matches, experience is a very important thing to have. I think that Babel would fare much better in this match than Pacheco, although I do see where you are coming from.
