      Podolski (Bayern Munich)

Lukas Podolski could be heading to the Premier League in January after telling Bayern Munich he wants to leave the club when the transfer window opens.

Lukas Podolski: Looking to leave Bayern Munich

The 23-year-old German international was one of the stars of Euro 2008 scoring three goals for Joachim Loew's side as they reached the final.

However, despite ending the tournament as one of the most highly-rated talents in Europe Podolski has struggled to secure regular first team football at the Allianz Arena.

Podolski, who didn't even feature on the bench in Bayern's 4-1 over Energie Cottbus on Saturday, has only started four league games this season with Bayern coach Jürgen Klinsmann preferring to partner first choice striker Miroslav Klose with Luca Toni.

Having slipped down the pecking order the writing appeared to be on the wall for Podoloski last week when it was announced that David Beckham's Los Angeles Galaxy team-mate Landon Donovan would be arriving in January to provide further competition.

"I have made my mind up that I would like to leave the club in the winter," Podolski told Bild newspaper on Monday. "I have already told the management that I want to leave this winter."

Both Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur were strongly linked with a move for Podolski after his heroics in Austria and Switzerland, but Bayern decided not to cash in on the player who would command a transfer fee of at least Euros15 million.

Former club Cologne have first option on him, should Bayern decide to accept a transfer request from a player who has scored 31 goals in 60 games for Germany.

I know he is not linked with us in the article but I think a discussion about him can be made. I know a lot of supporter would like another attacking option with with Podolski who can play as a striker or in wider role off the striker so I ask the question would you pay 15m euro (12m quid) for a punt at him

He's class but to be honest, haven't really seen him play as I don't watch German Bundesliga

So how do you know he's class then ;)

Anyway, from what I've heard he's promising but we don't have 12 million quid to throw around, especially not at a player we don't necessarily need, even if he's promising and would be a good addition to the squad. Save the money for first team improvements, not squad players.

I hear he isnt good domestically. Only problem for me if it is true in terms of a good deal or not but we dont need him. Attackers are totally off my list unless we sell first.

Oh and he would be tied for the CL so no point really.

Maybe another time, we need a wing backs (even as cover) and possibly another right midfielder to offer other options then Kuyt

      .

that wouldn't even come into my thinking, it is the league i would want new signings ear marked for.  klose and toni are prolific in the bundesliga, that's why he's not getting much of a game there.

i would like to see him come in, as i really rate him.  can't see it though, after spending 20 mil on robbie, i don't think rafa will get any bobs for attacking players unless there is something extreme happens to one of the main forwards we already have. ie season ending injury. (fingers crossed that doesn't happen)

Yea i said it too and we got Keane for a price we could have got him, I think people are talking about 10mill for him. Id offer Voronin in the deal if he still has high standing in Germany

I'd be looking to offload Voronin in an exchange for him as well. He must have done something well to have been wanted by Rafa.

i definately prefer if rafa signed him instead of heskey or owen. he is young, pacey and definately eager to prove himself. just that we dun have the $$ for him. maybe we could if we sell keane..

Totally affordable. He has no backing at all in Munich and would sell under double figures. Rather have Keane anyway.
