This security update resolves a publicly disclosed vulnerability. The vulnerability could allow remote code execution if a user views a specially crafted Web page using Internet Explorer. Users whose accounts are configured to have fewer user rights on the system could be less impacted than users who operate with administrative user rights.

This security update is rated Critical for Internet Explorer 5.01, Internet Explorer 6, Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1, and Internet Explorer 7. For information about Internet Explorer 8 Beta 2, please see the section, Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) Related to This Security Update. I know that a lot of people here don't use IE anymore, but those that still do, I suggest you get the patch or run Windows Update.

I just got the security update for IE 7 before mate, so I presume they're sending them out now? Nice one for posting.

I've been using Safari most of the time.

I'd imagine most people who look at this particular board know better than to use Internet Explorer.  Definitely the worst browser out there - but around 80% of all internet users do.

Which is why I thought I should post it. This vulnerability is quite serious.

Sorry for the bump but, didn't want to start a new thread just for the following question.

How the hell do you remove, delete/uninstall IE?

I've looked in the usual places, remove and uninstall programs and tried the microsoft help option that states:

      To uninstall Internet Explorer 8
Click to open Programs and Features.

In the left pane, click View installed updates.

Select Internet Explorer 8, and then click Uninstall.

Which is all well and good but, when I click on "View installed updates" IE is not there so I can't uninstall it, even the search function doesn't find it.

It is certainly on my computer as the IE icon is on my desktop and works when I click on it. I have been using Firefox for ages now and just want rid of IE as it's garbage.

I am using windows by the way.

      Can anyone help?

Firefox all the way. Once you install the add-ons for Youtube etc..your sound. Love the way you can customize it to :)
