But we didn't exactly not play steven gerrard against United at all. Babel scored the winner when Stevie was on the field :P

Look at who we have in those 3 - 4 weeks....  Easy teams.

Well, not easy but 3 points are easily reached.

Stevie will need the break to come back stronger

Weve heard that a lot this season, and look what happened.

Im confident we will coem out of the 3 weeks period with max points mind you. Both teams (city & pompey) we are playing are not very defensive, that should work in our favour!

Actually should be good footi games those 2.

These are the things champions overcome who wants to do it the easy way in any way i think we should rest Gerrard and Torres for rest of the season just to give the manure a chance seems unfair otherwise.
       :f_tongueincheek:

But seriously hurry back Stevie. :-[

In previous games when stevie has been injured the other lads have stepped up, remember last season, we won a lot of games without him!

Christ if it's not Torres then it Gerrard and vice versa. I get the feeling someone does'nt want them to get a string of games together :D

It'll make winning the title even sweeter.

"We were without Gerrard AND Torres for most of the season, I'm sorry, who said we were a two man team?"

Let's find out if that's actually true now. :D

If were serious about winning the league we should be able to go to pompey and Boro without him and win.

Should we be looking into sacking the pre match trainer?  they seem to over look the loosening of the hamstring...

They have to make sure now that they don't bring him back too soon and have a reoccurrence, because we can manage for 3 or 4 weeks but if he hurts it again and misses united or any Huge games, then that could be devastating.

Time for Yossi and Babel to shine - whoever plays in the adjustment.

I wasn't being negative! Just thinking that nothing that can be done about his injury, so we have to get on with it.

It's a shame it's happened now but we can't expect Gerrard to be fit all the time. Given his injury history, especially while he was still growing and his style of play it's a wonder it doesn't happen more often.

      We can survive without him.

Obviously any team benefits from having Stevie G in your team, but we can beat pompey and city without him.

Okay mate, just came across that way.

I think we should be able to cope but this means that other players will have to step in and perform well enough.

Really gutted about this. But like Smigger said we've done well without him and hoepfully it will be the same this time.

I just wish players stop getting injured more than once during a season. It really must be annoying thinking you've recovered fully, but then you go and get injured again.

The International break is a god send but lets face it we have managed to stay in the title race so far and that's been without Torres for most of the 1 st half of the season and our squad has coped now its Gerrard who is injured they need to pull together once again and keep us in the race till he is back . Rafa has faith in our squad now its time they repaid the faith and prove all our doubters wrong !

bad news but not the end of the world as long as Rafa doesn't pull one of his stunts and think he can get away without Xabi as well as Gerrard as he has done before. Message to Rafa....."Alonso is ESSENTIAL in the absence of Stevie. Masch and Lucas is NOT a proper midfield combination no matter who we are playing. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter."

defo time for others to shine... its an unusual situation we find ourselves in no Gerrard,Keane sold..Nemeth injured, our forward options are being stretched, though we shouldnt hit the panic button just yet! we have done it without Stevie before and so can again..I know that Rafa will probably play someone just of torres.. Benayon,Babel or Kuyt and rightly so they have more experience than younger squad players, but the bench could see some surprises,I wonder if El Zar,Spearing and Pacheco will get some action. Im rather excited at the prospect of seeing Pacheco play in the Premiership, I know there is the debating if he's ready or even Spearing,El zar,.. maybe someone can open a topic on young players that may or may not be called upon and whether they will shine. I really hope a new star is born on what seems a media driven gloomy period for the club!

Biggest loss of the season. Just means others now need to step up to the plate and show we're capable of playing without Stevie.

By the way 3 weeks for Gerrard really equates to about 5 weeks.

He's hardly going to be raring to go in 3 weeks is he.

United game may possibly be his first full game back.
