Big Phil Sacked!

Sky Sports have just announced Chelsea have just sacked Big Phil Scolari.

I have to admit I'm shocked at their timing of this one.  Ray Wilkins is to take temporary charge.

Somewhat feel for Scolari, it's his team that are playing sh*te.

He's a good man with a big heart, he tried his best, and he's still slaughtering the other teams (minus the Big 3).

He inherited an aging squad and hasn't had time to bring in his own players.

Shocked that he's been sacked, but Phil deserves better than Chelsea.

they have shot them selvs in the foot and its there fault, it mite be player power down to him being sacked. who wud want that job now? i crnt see any top manager wanting it to be honest. they wont even make the ueafa cup this season at this rate. good, big phill is a good manager, its gota be down to player power for him getin the sack. fat frank and joker terry must be unhappy and got him sacked its all i can think off.

Luiz Felipe Scolari has been sacked as manager of Chelsea.

A statement on the club's website revealed the move had been made "to maintain a challenge for the trophies we are still competing for".

Scolari, who led Brazil to their 2002 World Cup win, was appointed in June as the replacement for Avram Grant.

Chelsea, fourth in the Premier League and seven points behind Manchester United, will be led by assistant Ray Wilkins on an interim basis.

"Luiz Felipe Scolari has been dismissed as manager of Chelsea Football Club with immediate effect," read the statement. "The Chelsea board would like to place on record our gratitude for his time as manager.  

"Felipe has brought many positives to the club since he joined and we all feel a sense of sadness that our relationship has ended so soon.

"Unfortunately the results and performances of the team appeared to be deteriorating at a key time in the season.

"In order to maintain a challenge for the trophies we are still competing for we felt the only option was to make the change now.

"The search for a new manager has already started and we hope to have someone in place as soon as possible."

A banner unfurled during Chelsea's 0-0 draw with Hull at Stamford Bridge on Saturday called for the installation of West Ham boss and former Blues favourite Gianfranco Zola as manager.

But West Ham vice chairman Ausgier Fridgeirsson told BBC Sport the club has had no contact from Chelsea regarding Zola, who replaced Alan Curbishley at Upton Park in September, or former Chelsea coach Steve Clarke, Zola's current assistant.

Cant see this as good news for us. Yes he is a good manager but its wasnt working out and they were falling further away from us.( good news)

New manager might turn things around for them.

So they want to bring a new manager in, nearly mid feb to make a mark on the team and get a challenge even though transfer window is shut. Seems to be one of those owner wont give money situations

Zola is another name being bandied around to be Big Phil's successor.

Am I the only one not surprised by this?  FFS, they sacked Grant after he took control of Moron's struggling side and came 2nd in the league and within a Terry penalty of winning the Champs League.

Abramovich (and Kenyon) are crazy.  Any manager who does not instantly win everything is out on their bike.  Scolari didn't even get given any money to spend to revamp Moron/Grants aging and weak squad.
