Hi gow, Stumbled upon your football forum about the barkingdog while searching for a support group or such like.
I cannot believe someone else is having more or less the same problem as us!

We have a neighbour with three dogs that run up and down the garden all day from 7am till 1am and it drives us insane. Only one of the dogs really barks , it barks without breathing, as someone said it must breath out of its arse. Its been going on for almost two years now. I tried approaching the neighbour, was really nice about it but she was verbally abusive and threatened me!
The dog is so bored , it never gets a walk or a play session. I reported it as you did via log sheets and the dog warden was willing to prosecute but we would have to go to court and give evidence. This woman set fire to her neighbours kitchen when he complained about her kids screaming in the garden all the time. (the kids dont play in the garden anymore must be too much poo for them to dodge)
Ironically i work in a library too! I have done for 20 years.
I have had several anxiety attacks with the non stop barking, making me really ill and affecting my personality.
I am glad you seem to be getting somewhere at last , you seem very nice to be feeding the poor dog, cant say i would have been that kind.
My problem dog is three doors down.
Would love to chat to you, would be nice to speak to someone who understands how dreadful it is. I am trying to not moan any more at work, think i am getting boring and sick of hearing myself going on. My husband is getting really worried about me too, its making me so depressed and miserable. Like you i hear it in my head, i think the dishwasher is the dog barking!
Please get in touch so we can chat, think it would be good for us both.
      Best wishes

I'm sure your more likely to sell it without the dog sh*t smell and the barking and hopefully he will moved or get evicted. The poor dog though still has the problem of having a complete arsehole for an owner.

I am a bit on the other side of this debate

I have a black lab that barks a bit but I really don't think it is ever more than a few minutes 1-2 times a MONTH. That is it.

Yet, if he goes barking for like 20-30 seconds outside (at maybe a cat running around on the fence), my neighbors come over and tell me to keep him quiet.

They're lucky. Imagine if they - or you - had to listen to someone else's neglected dog barking all night. You sound like a responsible owner who cares too much about why the dog is barking ie, maybe it wants a stroke or a walk, or some food! This owner has been away for four days so far as I can tell and the dog's been left out in the heat all day and the cold all night. With a bowl of water that looks green and no food, surrounded by it's own sh*t.

      You're poles apart!

I couldn't imagine trying to sleep and having a dog barking all night. I would contemplate shooting the damn thing. No, No, I wouldn't but I would THINK about it. I love dogs but i love my sleep more.

You go through the gamut of emotions. Right now, I feel sorry for it.

Tomorrow I'll probably want to kill the f**ker!

Have you heard any more from the Council Gow?

And has the owner of the dog not been there for 4 days?

If so that's disgraceful, I'm sure the RSPCA would come and take it away if it's been left with no food or water  :f_steam:

The council should be serving the noise abatement notice this week. Then it will get interesting. Hope it's ok.

      Has it stopped barking though?
Its a fair bet the next time you go out there he's shifted the dog and its feeding bowl to your side of the fence.

It's barking less, but only through exhaustion caused by neglect as far as I can tell. I'm not feeding it any more though!

The latest is that he was getting served with a noise abatement notice this week. And magically, all of a sudden, he seems to have been in every night. Not working in Manchester, 35 miles away. Not a whole lot of barking from it, but still some.

I reserve judgement though, because the improvement started before he could have got the noise abatement notice. And I've seen improvements go sour very quickly over the last two years.

But, really, who cares eh? ;)

Love thy neighbour by stoping his dog from barking, just kick his head in?f**k the dog,or build a pigeon loft and sprinkle his garden with corn every day also his drive when the car's parked.

Thanks aw1. But trust me, they don't work. I've well tried that!

Been a bit better, but the last few nights it's started up again.
