It boiled down to Alonso, Gerrard or Kuyt for me.

In the end i voted for Xabi as he's just been simply outstanding all season long in every single department.

Just got his head down and let his football do the talking and boy did it pay off!!!

Whether he goes in the Summer or stays with us Xabi Alonso will ALWAYS be a Liverpool Legend.

Alonso, he had pressure on him and must have been upset with his performance last season and his near exit from anfield.

Gerrard did have a great season, but not much pressure with a possible transfer although he did do watch Rocky before he went out and that DJ got hit.

Gone for Yossi Benayoun, from nearly being sold to getting some important goals, IMO no one has been really outstanding, but for me Yossi has had a good season.

      Same case for Xabi Alonso.
Nearly being sold to putting on performances that as to why Steven Gerrard listed him in his top 5 midfielders.

Gerrard has been immense again and Yossi, Kuyt Torres responded present our back four could also be up there, I go for Alonso, he had a great season, his distribution has been really good and with the pressure of last year he responded the best way possible.

Ok are you joking? No one has been outstanding?? Aside from Gerrard getting player of the year, which he fully deserved, what about Alonso, Benny, Kuyt? They've all had OUTSTANDING seasons. I'd love some of what you're smoking mate

Who do we think has been the best performer for the club so far this season then ?? In my opinion Yossi has come on in leaps and bounds so its probably got to be him........although Diggler has been very important for us this season too............

      Opinions anybody ??

Jeez mate, you couldn't even spell two out of three players names right, never mind using text language. ::)

My fav has been yossi for preventing me having numerous heartattacks. Arby for being unsung hero. Masch for being a terror and SG and FT for being exactly who they are..world class.
Overall? Xabi has been so consistent and taken a lot of awful tackles but always been incremental to our success. Alonso

Alonso for me. Remember the Season is 9 months.....

Yossi was poor before Xmas, Gerrard has had niggling injuries, Torres has had niggling injuries too.

Although Xabi missed like two games he has been instrumental, from beating United at home in September all the way through. You can talk about unsung heroes, etc, but Xabi also managed to get 3 or 4 players sent off too in matches we then went on to win (Everton and Man City, to name two). Purely inspirational when needed, instantly reliable. And trust me, he will not be going anywhere.

Gerrard has been the best whenever he played. We can't just say anyone is better than him because they scored more, or performed better than expected. Say gerrard isn't in the team, where would we stand? 5th would be great. so he has been the best in my opinion.

Well Xabi and Stevie have been pretty consistent all season. Xabi with many man-of-the-match performances and Stevie, well, he is one of the top players in the world. Fernando Torres has been playing well despite the injuries and barring a handful of games. Last season, he scored 24 league goals in 34 league appearances. This season, he's got 14 goals in 24 league appearance (didn't realise he missed 14 matches). So, we can assume that he doesn't score in 10 games he plays a season , I.E. that's consistent.

On the other hand, we've got Dirk Kuyt and Yossi Benayoun having their best season in a Red shirt. Considering Yossi only started playing well in 2009, he's not my choice as this is Player of the Season. (I still rate Yossi highly, don't get me wrong).

So, I guess it's just mainly between Stevie and Xabi. Since Stevie has won FWA PoTY and PFA Fans' PoTY and even the BPLcelebration PoTY decided by Asian football fans, with Torres coming close behind him. Everyone of the squad is special in their own ways.

However, I'd give the award to Xabi after a confusing will-he-will-he-not-go pre-season. He stepped up his game with wonderful passes and scored some goals, reminding us of the Xabi Alonso of 2004-2006/7.

I'll have Alonso and Kuyt. But I guess Alonso edged a little. He has been phenomenal in midfield. He has a big role in Rafa's plans to develop Stevie into a support striker. Now that Stevie has a free role, Alonso is the true midfield man for Liverpool, along with Mascherano.

Easy 1 has to be Xabi Alonso
When he has not played we have struggled in just about every game ...We missed his killer passes and creativity that Lucas just lacks the abilty to do..
2nd would have to Kuyt this guy works his socks off for his shirt and our club some of the other players should look at the effort he puts in a game..
Then it would a tossup between  Stevie G and Masch
