      Florence & The Machine

What do you make of her?

One of those artists that I can't make my mind up about. I'm not usually into this kind of music but I'm finding her songs quite catchy at the moment.

Much better live than on disc.

I think she's alright. I quite like 'Rabbit Heart' and 'Drumming Song', haven't really listened to her whole album though.

Exactly the same with me, I just like those two songs, I listen to them on Spotify but haven't listened to the rest of the album. I might put the rest on soon actually.

That's interesting! Why would you say that is mate? Is it more like an 'act' on stage?

Some bands are Ross and 'Florence' have a stronger, more energetic, sound live. I caught them at Glasto and was very pleasantly surprised, given that I found their album a bit too 'soft'/'quiet'.  Oh and she has great stage presence.

Anyhow here she is covering Candi Staton

Yeah that's true, I remember seeing Simian Mobile Disco once as a support act - thoroughly enjoyed them live, very good. When I got home and listened to them it was extremely disappointing.

      Cheers for the video!

Boss band, good album and a good re-working of a Candi Stanton song.

Sounds a bit like the the singer out of the Cranberries too!

Wait until you've heard them a few times mate, get stuck in your head like I don't know what.

:D The ones I bother to listen will probably!

Like you (and some others have mentioned) after two or three songs I just stop it and move on to something else. It doesn't have that 'something' that makes me want to listen to the whole album.

      Very true.

Personally, a song has really got to 'hit me' for me to be bothered to listen to the whole album. I don't know with this band. I'm starting to really like the two released songs but I've just got an idea that the rest isn't going to be half as good.

Maybe someone will disclaim that though?

What I've heard of Simian Mobile Disco is boss! Would love to see them live.

As for Florence, I seen the latter part of their set at the NME tour here back in October. Never liked that Kiss With A Fist song. But Rabbit Heart is boss I reckon! Love the key changes in that.

Trust me mate, a whole different band when live. Just so much better, it all seems quicker and has more 'umph' to it.

I know exactly what you mean about the key changes. You know sometimes when there's a tiny part in the song you love? I love it when she goes 'faaaaaaades'. :D

Just heard part of the cover of 'You've Got The Love' on an advert for the album. Sounds very good!
