Meanwhile, Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has brazenly asked Liverpool for a favour against Fiorentina even though the French side played a huge part in the Reds’ early exit.

“First place (in Group E) is important, notably because the second-leg match in the last 16 would be played at home,” Aulas said.

“We have the match against Debrecen remaining and we hope that at the same time Liverpool can beat Fiorentina.”

How did he even have the decency to say this sort of thing? Bloody cheapo.  :-\

Bit split here, I'd obviously like to see us go out of the CL this year on a win, but with all our injury troubles already, should we really risk our players getting injured in a match that has no real consequence for our season?

It's our duty as professionals to try and win, which I'm sure we will. If one or two players come down 'injured' beforehand then it's bad luck. We can't risk our season to help Lyon.
