No way. Not worth a penny now. He's far too old. Won't do any good to our squad. He will just remain another liability to the club.

Wasn't he an Evertonian at one stage?

He's not good enough for Liverpool.

Redlfcblood - beattie is s'hite. He wasn't good enough for everton so he isn't good enough for Liverpool.

He had one good season for southampton in 1976 or something like that, he is crap. Just because he's better than Voronin that doesn't mean we should sign him like your suggesting. Im better than Voronin for f'uclks sake but i haven't been handed a contract yet!!

Fazza - do what Pele did on Escape to Victory - wait on the sidelines until the ball goes out, trap it and start showing your skills.... :f_tongueincheek:

Your taking out of context what I'm saying Fazza.

Now what I'm saying is if we are skint and have no money and we have no money he's a better option than Voronin, I'm not stating that he is of Liverpool quality, I'm simply stating beggars can not be choosers.

Now no matter what I think of Beattie as a player, I still think he'd get more goals than Voronin and if signing the likes of Beattie will help us to win games, which at the moment we are not, then I am all for it, F**k me I'd take Dietmar Van Nostril Boy at the moment if it helped us out of this slump.

Now we would all like David Villa, David Silva, Juan Mata, Sergio Aguero, Dzeko etc etc etc, but the stark reality is, we have not got a pot to piss in and its not going to happen.

So as I've said I have to drop my opinion of Beattie and how I rate him as a player look at our situation and think is he an upgrade on what we have got, well in Voronins case yes he is and if the lad can come on when were drawing 0-0 pinch a scruffy goal whether that comes of his head or the end of his F***ing knob I could not give two flying fucks, but looking beyond Nando and N'gog knowing if either or get injured the prospect of having Voronin there scares the sh*t out of me.

So personally if the circumstances were any different to what they are I'd have the same mentality, we need quality, well quality comes at a price and when you have two owners who have just received massive windfalls themselves, yet continue to seek outside investment, any hope of a substantial transfer budget for the January window has disappeared over the horizon quicker than the "New Stadium" and that F***ing "Snoogy Doggy" fella, who may I add I would take over both Beattie and Voronin providing he knew where the onion bag was.

Duh. Still, a blueshite reject isn't what i'd like to have at the club. No matter how good they are.

Not what I'd like at the club under normal circumstances mate.

But look at the context of my post above, its not normal circumstances beggars can not be choosers, and if it came to an ex blue nose helping to get us out of this predicament, I'm not that stubborn I would not accept it, best interests of Liverpool FC and all that comes above my opinion.

Cheap he may be, but the best we can get? Hardly. The fact he wore a blue shirt and was flogged off says enough.

Well I wouldn't rule it out is all that I'm saying, because given our finances and Beatties situation at Stoke City it may actually be a rumour that carries some weight.

I guess then you wouldn't have fancied us signing David Johnson then Crouchy?  :-\

Even tho' his 1/2.7 goal ratio helped us to:

      # Charity Shield: 1977 (shared), 1979, 1980

It's a sad state of affairs i suppose when we are talking about signing Beattie. But after Torres is he any worse than what we've got??

he can't even get into the stoke team at the moment can he?

so were actually being linked to a stoke city sub?

don't care if he is only considered as back-up, he isn't good enough.

don't care if he is only considered as back-up, he isn't good enough.

The reason is he can't get int the Stoke team at the minute is don to a clash of personalities with his manager, nothing to do with his footballing abilities/lack of them.

Again under normal circumstances I'd have to agree with you, he is not good enough, but the circumstances are not normal and as I have already said, due to our current financial situation, the fact Beattie is available and for a sum that will be music to our owners ears, this rumour could actually carry some weight.

If we were to sign Beattie whether or not I rate him as player, I'd accept the signing as obviously it reflects our current predicament.
