Fernando Torres believes Liverpool could yet make this season even more memorable than 2008-09.

The Reds have endured a disappointing campaign so far after a second-place finish last time out.

But Torres still has high hopes for 2009-10.

He explained to LFC Weekly magazine: "I remember watching the 2006 FA Cup final when Liverpool played against West Ham, it was a great match. Pepe, Stevie and Carra have told me all about it.

"In this country it is the most important trophy after the title. If we won it then we would play in the Community Shield. Winning gives you the chance to get more honours and that should always be our aim.

"Of course we want to finish in the top four too. If we could do that and win the Cup it would be the best season we've had for the last three or four years.

"I know we finished second last year, but to win something and finish in the top four would be better than that."

Well said Nando. A trophy and a reasoable position would be tops. It would also end all that bullshit what have Liverpool won recently.

As in we can better last season?

Can better it in terms of the FA Cup maybe but not the league or Europe.

Seen this on the offal and nodded in agreement with everything he's said.

He's got a great view on things, Fernando. Looking to the future and not lingering on the past - always trying to better the team and himself.

I'd take a trophy and 4th over no trophy and 2nd. Or the league and knocked out in the group stages of the CL any day of the week.

We're in with a real chance in two major cup competitions and we're 12 off the pace in the league.

Positivity is the key and Torres is always positive. This is why he is such a class act and such an important player for us. The second half of the season simply has to be better than the first and I'm sure every player will feel that it can b a lot better. There are trophies to be won and a top 4 spot is imperative of course. Torres is right we CAN top 2008/09.

Last season was great in the league, but the performance in the League Cup and FA Cup was dismal, and the CL Quarter Final first leg to Chelsea a massive disappointment.

This season has been awful, an absolute nightmare, but it says a lot when we have had a sh*te season and can still win 2 trophies. It's salvage-able yet.

Great as last season's chase for the title was, I'd prefer to have one or two trophies to show for our hard work than nothing at all.

First step: tw*t Reading.

 the league is different this year there might only be 5 points between the first five. now we have snow that might turn out to be a negative for the top 5. hope we can get everyone one playing 90 minutes instead of 45 minutes. then anything is possible,but some pieces of the puzzle have to be changed. some star players are old in terms of games played and lost the desire or mentality to win. its like been there done that boring boring

I would call it a pretty decent season if we have the Europa League and FA Cup in the cabinet this season, along with a respectable finish (hopefully top 4) in the league.

Considering the awful season we've had so far, I wouldn't mind bringing one of them trophies home.

Fernando lad we wont be topping sh*t if you play 3 games and miss the next 7.

One thing i don't like about Torres is he talks too much, and when ever he talks it's like a venom to us... His talks never comes to reality it only ends up being disappointment... You are a nice lad torres so stop the talking and let your play do the talking for you...
