I think that line up underlines the fact we are not lacking in depth that much. Obviously having another world class forward would do wonders, but it's pretty simple if can afford to push Gerrard to the right it simply means we have team that can be interchanged frequently.

Personally, I think in a big game, I would like Benayoun to be given 20mins to run at defenders. Give Riera the start, as he seems to always stretch the defense. But that is a mightily good line up. I have my reservations playing that team against the lesser teams, especially Masch and Leiva.

i dissagree with lucas even though he is very steady he needs to attack better and score goals. Also agger and the greek are gd carragher is a KOP favourite and gerrard has to play centre mid not wide right

Spot on, JD mate. Kyrgiakos has been pretty solid at the back. I mean, I love Carra but Mr. Liverpool isn't guaranteed a spot just because of his background.

Aquilani looks more effective behind Torres than Stevie does at the moment. That 2007/2008 dynamic duo is not as great anymore.

Lucas, although no good and bad moments. He keeps it simple. He isn't the most ideal player I'd have in the team but with the players around him and the formation we're using, I think he slots in pretty well.

Why does he HAVE to play there... look at what happened against Wolves and only managed a 0-0 draw?

We left Aquilani on the bench and played Gerrard in the position Alberto held the week before when Gerrard was out.

It was against Spurs when we beat em 2-0 I think.. Aquilani had a blinder in the position usually held by Gerrard. Gerrard is flexible enough to be able to play wherever he is asked to play, regardless whether he moans about it or not.

Its obvious from this we need another quality striker - Ngog is good but this year he's not quite ready.

Benayoun against weaker teams who don't attack because of his obvious skill in unlocking defences with his quick feet and skill.
Kyrgiakos also because teams like Stoke will be constantly playing long balls into the box and we need an aerial presences to defend these, but also going forward he offers more than Skrtel or Carragher.
Don't need two holding midfielders against them

Gerrard on the right? Nah. He influences the game wherever he plays but hes more effective playing off torres IMO. Why break up their partnership when its the best in world football? When hes played on the right in the past, he tends to drift inside and just goes missing leaving us with nothing on the right hand side. Gerrard and torres are our biggest asset/threat. It makes no sense to break them up.

Suprised so many are choosing Kyrigakos too, and based on what, the last 2-3 games? At the start of the season he was dreadfull, clumsy, inconsistent, and hes had a few solid games and all of a sudden hes in our strongest line up? Carragher hasn't been at his best this season but hes not exactly 'past it', far from it actually and he is certainly further ahead in pecking order than Kyrigakos.

Feel sorry for Lucas. Hes improved so much and is really getting a grip of things but i don't really see where he fits into the side. He's a great backup player for Mascherano but i doubt Lucas will ever be happy with that. Can see him moving on in a year or 2.
