Rio Ferdinand is the captain and Stevie is the deputy.

      John Terry and off-field controversey

2001: Chelsea players Terry, Frank Lampard, Eidur Gudjohnsen and Jody Morris were accused of insensitive behaviour in front of American tourists at a Heathrow hotel on the day after the 9/11 terrorist attacks. The players were each fined two weeks' wages by Chelsea.

2002: Terry and Chelsea team-mate Jody Morris were charged with assault and affray in connection with a nightclub incident in central London. Both were later cleared. Terry, uncapped at the time but with a growing reputation, was forced to miss the World Cup after the Football Association decided he would not be considered for international duty with England until the legal case was completed. Chelsea fined both Terry and Morris for being out late less than 48 hours before an FA Cup third-round tie at Norwich.

2009: Terry's mother Sue was cautioned by police for shoplifting along with his mother-in-law Sue Poole. Terry said: "I've got experience of seeing many headlines and as a player you get on with it and fully concentrate on football, like I did in training this morning - it doesn't affect players."

2009: Terry's father Ted was accused of passing illegal drugs to an undercover newspaper reporter.

2009: Terry distanced himself from a bid to cash in on his role as England captain. A PR company appointed by Terry's agents had contacted businesses touting for commercial endorsements. Terry later claimed he had no knowledge of the sponsorship move and had not approved it.

2010: Terry was named as the sportsman behind a gagging injunction involving his private life. His identity was revealed after Mr Justice Tugendhat gave his reasons at London's High Court for lifting the order which he originally granted at a private hearing last Friday. The order covered an alleged relationship between married Terry and the former girlfriend of Wayne Bridge.

      I'd like to drop him.
Won't give it to Ferdinand he's got previous so golden balls shrek will cop for it with a nod and some pressure off Sir Alcho. Personally couldn't give a F**k about the whole charade in fact don't have any feelings one way or the other if any of our lads get selected never mind hold the captaincy.
If Ferdinand does get the job it is further proof of the bollocks involved with the whole set up it goes from bad to a whole lot badder.

I don't want it to go to Gerrard as hopefully he will retire form England after the world cup, but if he was captain he would probably carry on. He doesn't really deserve it anyway. I hope it doesn't go to ferdinand who has been sh*t the last few England games. I think it should got to Ronney, who I hate but I have to admit is a great player. :-\

Is this true, bloody great, I love to hate him the cockney chimney sweep.

Give it to Captain Marvelous, Stevie G, he is Englands best player by a country mile, and a midfield general of the correct age.

Brian don't try and fathom it out cos there's no order or sense to it mate it's complete bollocks, after saying that tho they really should give it to Beckham and all your cockanee sparrers would be made up. That's all it is a fecking pantomime.

Apparently Ferdinand was vice captain before all of this?

Could have sworn Gerrard was? Please correct me if I'm wrong.
