Its more of a case that stevie owes the club after all the obscene amout of money footballers earn today including image rights its only fair the the club demand 100% from the player in return.No need to put your arm around a grown man a give him that extra ego boost after all these are grown men  who are millionaires,what they need to do is look in the mirror and be thankfull of what they have.

Steven Gerrard does not need someone to tell him how good he is. He knows already!

It is a fair point, i agree we don't have that much quality compared to our rivals. However, he's with the same players as last season except for 3 and last season he was having a ball.

I have tried to wrap my head around this topic without much success.

BUT here is my take on it.

Gerrard was strategically positioned to lead the team's onslaught and wins. He has been immensely valuable to the team.

However, if he had opted out a la Owen, Rafa would have found a replacement and maybe, we would have a totally different team formation and game play.

You must not forget that Gerrard was given the role that allows him the freedom to move freely by Rafa.
